RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

It has been a while since my last update. The tank is starting to mature and the plants are thriving. I have added Echinodorus palaeofolius var. latifolius, Alternanthera reineckii and Pogostemon helferi. Dosing flourish excel, flourish ferts and have a DIY CO2. Although the CO2 is diy and the...

RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

Hello long time no post. I have been cycling my tank with fish from my old tank. Had a very small ammo spike  but dealt with it appropriately, fortunately all levels are good to go. I couldn't be more pleased about how it is turning out. I have added 1 Anubia & 1 Bolbitis all to the...

RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

A few things. I have added all the fish from my now empty tank into this one. Have been running for 4 days with fish in cycle and old media in the tank. A=0 Ni=0 Na=~10. Good news so far i guess there will be no (or a very small) cycle due to the old media, I will remove this in about a months...

    Sudden Algae Bloom

Is the h2o2 killing the cyano? If so the cloudyness will be organics from the dying bacteria. Do a water change every day or you might get an ammonia Spike.

RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

The filter is great. Easy to set up and easy to start as its self priming. I really like the feature of it removing air bubbles from its system for 2 mins every day. As far as noise, so far it has a lot of micro bubble going into it from my tank due to it being a new setup so its quite loud but...

RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

Well I've done a lot. Found a stand, made a tree, added a mix of Eco complete and black sand, bought some rocks. Its filled and all set up with heater, filter and lights. Have to cycle now but that should be a doddle. Next phase is picking plants. What do you think?

Top things someone in Pet store Retail should know?

I run a lfs in a new UK chain, we have the right to refuse sale if the customer doesn't have the right size tank or a new one. We always ask for tank details and recommend a free water test before buying fish for new tanks. This is obviously not the standard in the US from what you guys are...

RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

Hello! update: I spent a ridiculous amount today on my Tmc aquaray dual grobeams. Also bought some overpriced mopani, £15 a piece! First stage of the tree stuck together with silicon and drying. Have just the branches to source and stick on. Btw the LEDs are so bright! Its coming on now yay!

I think Kuhli Loaches are under appreciated!!!

The reason kuhli loaches aren't in many shops are that: they escape tanks really easy and end up either in the filtration system or other tanks. They are hard to find and hard to catch. They need to be kept in large groups to really get the most from them and the majority of people don't want 6...

RabiedRoosters' 370 litre planted tank build

I know cool eh. I have a lot of mature media to add to my filter so cycling shouldn't take too long thank goodness. Have yet to buy the LED lighting, the mopani,CO2 bits and the plants. I would like advice as to what plants would be good for this. Having rhizome and moss on the tree branches but...

    is this ich?? help

You would need to use salt and heat. The heat just speeds up the life cycle of the ick. the salinity is what kills it. In his display tank having increased heat and no fish would more or less guarantee the ick gone by the time he puts his fish back in after treatment. i presume he would be using...

    is this ich?? help

Id remove the betta to the qt too and treat both. The life cycle will be disrupted in your main tank as there are no fish and the ick will die. If you can turn the heat up a little in both qt and main to speed up the life cycle of the ick. you can treat the fish, tank and not lose your shrimp...
