It is a planted tank, and has 12 hours of light a day with a two hour break in the middle.

I have two cories right now, and an oto, I had more cories and another another oto, but they died. I'll probably get some more cories.

I have some pictures of it. I think they are attachments on this.

The tank is not brand new, but it is still sort of new, it's had fish since late November, so that's five months running.

I use sand made specifically for aquariums, not play sand.

I have a 29-Gallon tank with sand that has some strange algae-like stuff growing on the sand. it is dark-green and brown and has been around for weeks. I try to get rid of it during water changes, but it keeps coming back! What do I do? :(

I have a king betta and he is 2 and a half inches long. I feed him Betta Bio-Gold. It says to feed them 2-4 pellets twice daily. Since king bettas are bigger than normal bettas and can get 4 inches long, how many pellets should I feed him now and how many when he is full grown? :confused:

I was doing this for my quarantine tank. Could I "feed" the aquarium withy flakes to create ammonia for them to eat? I was going to quarantine bristlenose plecos (two).

My fish are fine in 8.1, I'm just glad I asked here first or I would get a real headache and school and extracurricular activities give me enough.;)

I tested it in clean dechlorinated water proven by my liquid test kit (yes I got one) to have 0ppm and it still said "alert .5 ppm" or whatever, so I threw it out.

I went to Petco and had my water tested which seems to agree with my ammonia and pH alerts.

Frankly, I don't trust PetSmart. I don't much fish experience there, I went there for reptiles, which were all sickly looking and they had a terrible selection, but I do know that about 50% of their fish were dead :(

I have an airstone and my oto swims over to it rides the bubbles to the top, and other times she (I think) randomly swims up the side of the tank, then detaches and swims back down, then repeats the process. Her late friend (R.I.P. Otty) never did this. Is this normal, or is my oto uh... how to...

I'm doing everything I can to lower ammonia, it's elevated due to recent deaths from a clogged filter. I'm hoping to have it down soon.
