    Upgrading Tank Size

Yeah like carey mentioned, bringing over the water really won't do you any good. The good bacteria lives mainly on surfaces

How much space between plexiglass and glass for baffles?

Yeah. I found a very small piece sticking out a little bit. After several failed attempts of cutting the plexiglass 100% perfectly, I found a place that would do it. They cut it perfectly, I just had to sand the sides down just a tiny bit to get a better fit. Waiting for it to dry now, may have...

How much space between plexiglass and glass for baffles?

Hey everyone, Currently building my own sump. I read somewhere to cut the plexiglass an 8th of a inch less width wise to give you wiggle room to silicone the baffles. Well I did this and applied a little pressure to get it sit perfectly straight and the 20g tank shattered. Any ideas on how to...

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

I believe the Xp3 is already acting as a nitrate factory. I changed the water about a week ago and nitrates were at 5, now they are at 20 or slightly higher. I've cleaned the bio balls in the wet/dry but haven't opened the xp3 yet and it has been running for a month. Instead of cleaning the xp3...

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

Yeah tha'ts what I plan on doing, or buying a new sump setup with room for a refugium. I have a skimmer in there right now but I'm hurting for room lol My overflow is rated for 400gph. If I took the xp3 out today would just the wet/dry at 400gph still be good turnover ammount? In this case...

Has anyone ever seen a tank like this?

Haha I seatch local craigslist ads for aquarium stuff just for the heck of it but I never saw that one, that's interesting. Go MTS! lol Let me know if you get it. Maybe I'll bump into you at Fish Safari sometime. I was there sunday looking around and picking up water.

would a trigger be fine with my stock list?

Thanks for all the info guys. I went to my favorite LFS and discussed my concerns, and he pretty much told me the same thing as what I read here. He takes care of other peoples tanks and has seen it work sometimes. I was willing to give it a shot but I just recently got a good clean up crew, so...

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

Here it is, mine looks slightly different as far as the pluming coming into it, but basically 100% same thing Wet Dry Filter System - Sealife Systems I have the live rock rubble under the egg crate, fully sumerged. There's about 5-6 pounds in there.

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

The wet/dry is from sealife systems, it has something just like that before the bioballs. Will having this alone fix the whole bioballs problem? I just added about 7 pounds of live rock rubble on the bottom, will this be enough? i havent removed any bio balls, I'm slowly going to start doing...

would a trigger be fine with my stock list?

Hmm okay thanks. If he is the smallest in the tank will he still try to attack a clown twice his size?

would a trigger be fine with my stock list?

So -'m just about stocked in my 75g but I know I have room for one more fish. My girlfriend insist I get this tiny Picasso trigger and I think it would be a good addition. If not what fish would you recommend? The fish I have are in my sig below check the compatibility chart but its already...

Okay, just wanted to make sure, that's what I was leaning towards. Thanks guys

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

Why exactly does it promote extra nitrate product? Is it because it processes ammonia and nitrite faster, isn't this good? I currently use a 48" coralife t5ho double bulb lighting fixture with an atinic and 10,000k daylight bulb. Will this be a problem? Seems ever since I started using it the...

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

I know a lot of people eventually move up to a reef, but for now, and for some time, I know for sure it will be a FOWLR. Coral down the road I'm sure, but not anytime soon.

Your opinion on my current filtration setup

So I upgraded from a 40g to a 75g three weeks ago, nearly a month now and I wanted to know your guy's opinion on my filtration, wondering if I have room to make changes for improvement/adjustments. Right now I have an overflow box rated for 400gph that flows down to a wet/dry trickle...

Is this coralline algae or cyano emerging?

Hey everyone, Upgraded my salt water tank from my 40g to 75g three weeks ago. I already have some coralline algae but no it looks like I have a darker version growing and I just want to identify it early so I know what to do. I had a small diatom bloom after the upgrade but nothing crazy, and...

    Horror story!!

The trailer for it shows some idiot walk in to the fish section to get his son some CHICH lids as he pronounces it and tells the LFS that tank size requirement is bogus and that it works but the fish "just don't get as big man." Or the stupid mom who wanted to buy her daughter 4 more goldfish...

    Horror story!!

I don't have a completely crazy honor story, but my Orange Prawn Striped Goby has made for several interesting stories. When I purchased him, he jumped out of the bag before the LFS could close it. Took him a sec to get it back in the bag. Then I quickly realized I needed a bigger tank I was in...

    Reef or FOWLR?

FOWLR! Granted you don't have all the nice looking coral but having an aquarium is about the fish for the most part IMO. You have a larger selection of fish you can choose from, you could have a bi color angel in a FOWLR as long as it's the only angel in the tank. Plus you don't have to worry...

    Weight on 2nd floor

Nice. I wanted to get a 125g but was starting to wonder. A few people told me that wouldn't go past that so I stuck with 75g. I'm happy with it though, but a 125g would allow me to get the tang I want.

    Clown question

This brings up something I was wondering earlier. I have a Black and White Perc in my tank but was wondering if I could add a regular true or false perc without any issues. The black perc is a little agressive towards my hand, which is new but I've had him for 2 months or so now.
