    Free: Assorted Fish!

These fish are still available if anyone local or semi-local is interested. I have someone who wants them shipped, but I'm not sure I'm ready to risk killing them by shipping...

anyone from the North ga or tn

Here's the ad I finally was able to post: Up for grabs are four cory catfish. I believe two are male and two are female (based on the large size of the first two, and the fact that I've seen them lay eggs; and also based on the small size of the other two and the fact that I've seen them...

    Free: Assorted Fish!

Up for grabs are four cory catfish. I believe two are male and two are female (based on the large size of the first two, and the fact that I've seen them lay eggs; and also based on the small size of the other two and the fact that I've seen them EAT the eggs after the others lay them). I also...

anyone from the North ga or tn

If this question was meant for me, I would be willing to go south into downtown Atlanta to re-home these fishes. I would also probably go as north as Cartersville (because I have some friends that live there and I could meet them for food, lol) or up 400 to Dahlonega (again, a friend and food)...

anyone from the North ga or tn

This is weird...not sure if I'm allowed to post this on here or not, but I was going to do an ad tonight about some fish I am trying to re-home for free and the site wont let me post in classifieds at all. Guess I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens. Just wanted to give a heads up to...

That must have been scary to watch! Glad she is ok. I have always had a soft spot for cories, not sure why...

A happy surprise--a baby albino cory!

My two female cories have laid eggs numerous times but the other fish (especially the male cories!) always come along after them and eat all the eggs. I've not had one survive yet. Very cool that yours did!

    Water temp change night/day?

In the winter, even with my heater on and working well, I was always having a 4-6 degree jump from day to night. My fish never seemed to mind. They stayed healthy and happy (as far as I could tell).

Heater for a small tank, is anything too big?

amesdrew: thanks! $35 is definitely worth it for it to work properly! Tim W: thanks for the info.... I will absolutely get a new heater since like you said before, its better for the fish if the temp does not fluctuate so much. I guess I was being stubborn trying to use all my old...

Heater for a small tank, is anything too big?

I dont know....I guess I just wanted it to be in the middle so that everyone was happy. Some of the stuff you read about mollies is that they dont like the water too cool and then the other fish dont like the water too hot, so I thought somewhere in the middle would be nice for them all...

Heater for a small tank, is anything too big?

ugh, heaters! my heater is the only thing in my tank giving me a problem. My poor fish either end up at 72 or 82. I'd like to keep them around 76-78ish but when I adjust the heater even in just tiny little movements it does too much. Does that mean its too small or too big for the tank...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

Its a thin, hard plastic backing with alot of slats in it. The blue fiber is basically attached on one side only and the black backing is all that is on the other side. You mean, tear the blue fiber off and get a sponge that I can insert it in? That may work if I can find a sponge with a...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

One of the cartridges, the one for my Tetra filter, does have a clip on the top with a fiber bag and carbon in it. I could take that one apart and clean it (should I take out the carbon when cleaning or leave it in?). Also, if I keep using that one, should I add new carbon every once in a...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

BigJim: Sorry to keep bugging you about this, but I want to make sure I do everything right! My filter media is on a rigid back so I can't squeeze it. Well, one is. The other has the rigid part in the middle, but I can't squeeze that either. I guess maybe a toothbrush would probably do it...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

One last thing...forgot to add that one of my filters came with a sponge-type thing which sits in with the filter media to collect the bacteria so that when you take out the filter media the bacteria is not all gone. The other filter did not come with a sponge (though I've noticed the newer...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

Old habits die hard? lol. Years ago with my other tank when the filter got crappy I tossed it and got another. Never had any issues. Am beginning to think that was a magic tank which will never be replicated. lol. I've been so careful with this one, though, trying to do everything right(I...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

What if you have two filters in the one tank? Can you change the filter media of one of them without an issue since there will still be bacteria and such on the other? Then weeks later, change out the other one? would that keep everything stable enough if you rotated in that manner?

    too much filtration/areation/current?

BigJim: I cycled the tank the way the books tell you to, meaning I got a couple of tetras, they created ammonia...I had a bacterial bloom for a day or so (cloudy water)...then my ammonia went to zero....then had some nitrites...now (a couple weeks later) both are back to zero and so I started...

    too much filtration/areation/current?

Greetings! I was given a 40 gallon tank which I have just recently cycled. I have two 20-40 filters that I am using. One is a Whisper and I cant remember the other one but its the other common brand sold at walmart. I had these from before and they still work great, so I thought better to...
