She eats perfectly fine but she IS alot more shy. She used to at least let me get 1 foot away...

    Yellow watchman turned pale white?

Today I just noticed my yellow watchman goby has turned white. Any Ideas why? It's eating perfectly fine and acting normal such as perching while my pistol shrimp digs. I've researched a bit and have come across 2 answers as to why it's pale. 1. Stress. 2. she's female. any inputs on this?

Who said size matters when pairing a goby with a pistol shrimp? :P

I remember months ago someone told me that a goby and shrimp will only pair if they're the same size. Well, here's my Year old shrimp paired with my new month old goby haha so yeaah that information was wrong

ughhhhhhh im having a tank leak

I've heard I can't use the same sand from my old tank and put it in the new. Is that true? Would it also be better if I use my tank water to fill up the new tank?

ughhhhhhh im having a tank leak

So what's better? Should I start up a new tank and cycle it while my fish and pistol shrimp are in my old tank? Or do I sell my fish to the lfs while I'm setting up the tank..

ughhhhhhh im having a tank leak

I just noticed it yesterday morning. Its weird though. There's this black rubber that's on the inside of the tank that outlines the sides of the tank and now some of that rubber has pushed itself in between the corner where two glasses meet. Is there anything I can do? Or is my tank doomed? I...

Can anyone explain why my pistol shrimp CUT HIS OWN CLAW OFF?

Yeah I saw it cut it off. He was holding his right claw with his left. Before I knew it, he walked on with the claw on the ground

Can anyone explain why my pistol shrimp CUT HIS OWN CLAW OFF?

Thank you for the link. It's been useful:] Yeah clintwood (my pistol shrimps name :P) had two claws. They were both roughly around the same size and like I said in the previous posts, he started acting really weird just flicking his tail to push himself to the top of the tank and just let...

Can anyone explain why my pistol shrimp CUT HIS OWN CLAW OFF?

Hahah yeah I've heard of the phantom or alien arm thing :P but yeah the behavior yesterday was REALLY strange. I think he's doing fine now though. Digging his burrow with one claw instead of 2 now

Can anyone explain why my pistol shrimp CUT HIS OWN CLAW OFF?

Well he burrowed into a rock in the back of the tank and I got worried because there was no openings so I lifted the rocks and moved them around. He scurried out and started burrowing. Right now he's settled into a new rock and pushing sand out as we speak:] but that whole claw thing still...

Can anyone explain why my pistol shrimp CUT HIS OWN CLAW OFF?

Hahaha I noticed I wrote Bacon rather than back :P Molting? True because he usually comes out of this whole in his home rock when its feeding time but this was creepy. He kept flinging himself everywhere. And the claw isn't from the molt. I mean he used to have 2, now he's walking around with...

Can anyone explain why my pistol shrimp CUT HIS OWN CLAW OFF?

To save time: All levels are zero. He went missing for 2-3 days Yesterday he flicked his tail and swam frantically only to fall Bacon down and land on his side or back and would lay stiff. Afterwards, he had his claw on his other claw, before I knew it, he was swimming somewhere else and the...

    Quick question about powerheads

Later on in a few months I would like to have some coral but in the mean time, my white goby sifts through sand all day leaving it floating in the water making it settle on the rocks. His home rock is COVERED in sand hahah so question, will a powerhead solve this? By solve I mean prevent the...

Just got a new 30 gallon tank! what should i put in it?

If your going to have a fish at least be nice enough to give it a proper home and keep it happy. Not just "keep it alive". I see you already have a goby, stay away from fish of the same shape (grammas, gobies etc) because as docile as the goby is, it'll get aggressive and territorial against...
