I have a 125 gallon tank with a16" Oscar , 8-9" Jack Dempsey 10" tinfoil bard 18" spotted gar and 20" pleco , If I buy a 18-20" silver arowana would the arowana kill anything or get killed ?

I choose sa ca cichlids over Africans any day. To me they just have so much more personality and they get bigger which is cooler.

But at least it's not two males right? I got rid of the eggs and now the Oscars have calmed down. I'm still keeping an eye out for really ba aggression just in case.

Hey good news (I think)! I think it was breeding behavior, because one of the oscars laid eggs.

Then what are they doing when they like swim completely vertical over the rock and bte at it.

It's a minor jaw lock or bump on occassion. There is never really a chase or a long battle.

I think my two oscars may be a breeding pair. But is it possible if one is 12" and the other is 6"? They jaw lock and bump each other now and again but they both hover together around a flat rainbow rock I have and they both "chew it" they look like plecos sucking on it. Is this normal breeding...

Gravel is not necessary. It provides some media for bacteria to grow on but the majority is in your filter. It's more of an aesthetic preference.

How many people here make there own food? I would love some recipe ideas, I kind of want to try and make my own fish food.

I run two Rena xp3 filters for my 125 gallon. Some people say my tank is a little over stocked but if your over filter your tank, keep up with water changes, and monitor your nitrates nitrites and ammonia I'm sure you'll be fine for now. Eventually I'd upgrade to a 6 foot tank though.

Also I use pellet food and have one java fern in there. Gravel substrate with driftwood, lava rock, and a rainbow rock as well as plastic plants and a plastic cave. I occassionally feed freeze dried food but mostly pellet.
