Ok, more questions. Is it ok to cycle the tank with pretty much cured LR (my ammonia only went to 0.25 and then to zero, with nitrates up to 80). I've read many posts about cycling with LR abd a shrimp, and was wondering if it will be ok with the cycling being done with just the LR.

Ok, they're just strings, so chaeto? And if so, what should I do with it? Also, with the cyano, if it's bad, how do I get rid of it? I've got some snails coming in this week, will they clean it up? (Ceriths and zig zag periwinkle snails)

I got the sand bed with the tank, and yes, I have a refugium. I'm pretty sure it's done cycling from my water readings, but that stuff has been there all along.

So I found this stuff in my tank. I'm pretty sure the brown stuff is diatoms and the purple is coralline algae (although why is it on the sand?). However, I can't ID those stringy green things coming up out of the sand. Help?

I definitely want to make sure it's cycled. The reason I'm confused is that once I added live rock, there was no ammonia spike, and 3 days after the addition, I had 10 ppm nitrAtes and no ammonia or nitrIte. Any ideas on why this happened?:confused:
