Danner Supreme Mag Drive rated at 950GPH. The actual output is around 300Gph. There's a sponge filter on the intake.

Sealing a hole about the size of a dime?

Silicon normally doesnt stick to Arcylic very well. It has something to do with the oils that are used to produce plastic. You may be fine, but I definitly keep an eye on it. Or replace the patch with glass.

    Making driftwood sink?

Both of these are screwed to slate tiles. You can buy slate tiles for around a dollar apiece. They're easy to drill and break/cut to size. I did boil mine a couple of time to get the tannin out.

    Making a canister filter?

Picture time! Here's some different views of my Tank. The pump is the right hand corner (facing the front). I've "disguised" it with some fake plants.

    Making a canister filter?

Think of a bucket, half filled with sand, with the water entering the bottom and working its way up to the top. The Sand becomes fluidized (like quicksand) and that creates a massive bio filter. I can take my last canister fill it about half way with sand and reverse the water flow. The water...

    Making a canister filter?

About QuikSand Fluidized Bed Filters Pretty good explanation there. Most wholesalers hours arent convenient for me. But yeah you're right, they're normally cheaper and have a much better selection.

    Making a canister filter?

I hadn't considered using it until I saw it in use at the LFS, over the weekend. It was used on the sump of their 900 gallon fw display tank. LFS wanted $10 a foot, Home Depot sells 20ft for 16-$17. Home Depot's is black and used for ponds. The black is supposed to inhabit algae growth. I'm...

    Making a canister filter?

Yep, pump inside the tank eliminates any priming issue! I had to buy the gauge off Ebay, its a 0-15psi. Couldn't find one locally that small. The system runs normally at 5psi. Any variation you know you have a problem. I'm going to change the 3/4 clear tubing out. Its really too stiff and...
