    Constant 0.25ppm ammonia

Sorted it! The tap water and tank water both had ammonia in them. Adding that second filter to circulate the water better has caused the ammonia level of the tank to drop to 0, and now a clear colour difference can be seen when comparing the tap and tank water tests. So it was poor circulation...

    Constant 0.25ppm ammonia

Ive just tested a glass of lemonade. The kit measures from yellow to green. Its come out pink... Ill buy some bottled water and test that, as lemonade clearly wasnt a good choice

    Constant 0.25ppm ammonia

If the tap water has .25ppm, wont this still be broken down by the filter media within a few days of a water change, to get it down to 0??

    Constant 0.25ppm ammonia

im using the liquid tests. the lot number ends in 08/06. So they were probably manufactured in 2006. Could they have gone off? Scottishnewbie: Keep watching this thread, ill let you know if I sort it out.

    Constant 0.25ppm ammonia

Hi, I have a constant ammonia reading of 0.25ppm ammonia the tank was fully fishless cycled 3 months ago. Im using API test kits and Tetra conditioner, which removes chlorine and chloramine. I doubt the tank is overstocked as nitrate never gets over 10ppm with just a 10% water change once a...

    Hagen Nitrate test question

actually, just had a thought. Bottle 2 is probably a thinner liquid, and so the drops are bigger. Really thought I was on to something then...

How much money do you have into our hobby so far?

about £400 for me, wasnt sure if the list above was for $ or £ so I voted for 400-500. I managed to get a 240L (55G) 2nd hand for £170, which was a real bonus. Its soon to be moving up to around £800 when I make the change to salties.

    Hagen Nitrate test question

why does the hagen nitrate test say to use 5 drops of bottle 1&2, but bottle 1 is 10ml and bottle 2 is 17ml?? Surely the extra 7ml will just be wasted.

    HHHEEELLLPPP sick ram :(

The tank was fully fishless cycled before adding them. This was around 3 months ago. My tap water measures .25 ammonia, and the tank constantly seems to measure .25 - .50 I use API liquid test kit, if tap water measures .25, could the test kit have a zero error? I also use aquasafe...

    HHHEEELLLPPP sick ram :(

he died. How clever are these fish? Just when i woke up this morning, the healthy one was picking at the ill one, but now hes dies, its not interested. Did he know the other one was in pain, and was he trying to put him out of his misery? Also, if this is caused by some form of parasite or...

    HHHEEELLLPPP sick ram :(

Ammonia: 0.5 NO2: 0.0 NO3: 6.0 pH: 8.2 Hi, one of my two rams is lying on its side and i have seen it swimming in loops aswell. It only started about an hour ago, just after I fed them. From reading round it seems like it could be the swim bladder, caused by overfeeding. It could be possible...

    Educate Me

Sunset hygro. It will need trimming, but as the leaves reach closer to the light they change from green to pink. Mine is growing in a tank with fertiliser under the gravel, but it should be fine with just gravel. If you spread the stems out individually when planting, rather than in a bunch...

Help With Final Plans for Sump

Could you not bring the return up and through the lid?? Depends on the design, but I know mine has a space for cables which something like that could fit through. and remember to never submerge the return, because if the pump fails the tank will siphon to the end of the hosing.

    Common Pleco - Too Common?

How do they end up so cheap aswell. It's virtually impossible to tell male from female and theyre very hard to breed successfully in aquarium apparently

Just chuck them in and they'll be fine. :)

    Common Pleco - Too Common?

19 inches is the record I think. More like 12-15" in an aquarium though

Should I be able to track ammo > nitrItes > nitrAtes in a cycled tank?

I know the pains of cycling lol. 10 days for ammonia to go and today is day 17 waiting for nitrite to drop. Should be done soon though.

Should I be able to track ammo > nitrItes > nitrAtes in a cycled tank?

In a cycled tank virtually no ammonia or nitrite should be present, but as stated above the fish will release a slow constant stream of NH3. If you were to see no NH3 or NO2- while dosing then it would all have to be converted instantly.

Can anyone tell me what these snails are? And will a figure 8 puffer eat them?

Should I put them in a tank with the figure 8 puffer?? mmm snails...

Can anyone tell me what these snails are? And will a figure 8 puffer eat them?

The tank there in is currently cycling, so it does have high ammonia and nitrite levels at the moment. The snails must have came in on the plants.
