Questions about cleaning equipment for tank use.

try not using the soap, lol...that'll save ya a penny or two. look, all i'm saying is why spend ur hard earned money on costly tanks, fish, and equipment and then have some catastrophe because you wanted to clean a 3$ bucket?? i would be almost sure that if someone found you a "how to clean a...

    quick cycle question...

usually takes twice as long for the nitrite eating bacteria to colonize as the ammonia eating bacteria, at least thats been my experience...i'm sure a certain someone will chime in about how i'm wrong though, lmao!! anyway, i've got a crowded 55 malawi mbuna tank now and they're all waiting for...

    ro/di better than tap??

so just did another test (api master) on my tap water and here are the results: ammonia: 1-2 ppm nitrite: 5+ ppm nitrate: 5+ ppm here's the question: i use amquel+ as a water conditioner for regular water changes and seem to really have no ill effects on fish (malawi mbuna and a couple...

Questions about cleaning equipment for tank use.

Not trying to sound like a [moderator edit] but a soapy bucket could kill "all" your 3 dollar fish...do the math...keep all detergent a safe distance from anything and everything around your tanks...good luck!!

Questions about cleaning equipment for tank use.

"NEVER" use any soap or detergent of any kind... can and will present problems at some point no matter how much you rinse. Also, the bucket is probably ok but you realize that a brand new bucket at the hardware store is only about 2-3 $$ so just be safe and get yourself a new one. Save the...

    quick cycle question...

congrats on not "ruining" your cycle...i've had off the chart nitrite readings for almost 10 days until this morning on my 125, finally showed some reduction. i know how you feel waiting for them to go down but every responsible fishkeeper does it at some point...good luck!!

    quick cycle question...

there's no way 2 tablespoons of ammonia would "ruin" a cycle in 55 gallon tank...don't care what stage of the cycle you're at...period...

    quick cycle question...

i disagree...first tank i did was a 20 long and i put like 2 cups in it...and guess what?? it even had surfactants in it (which at the time i knew nothing about) and the tank cycled in about a month with no water change, as i let it "just sit". the question was "has anyone run into this?" and i...

    quick cycle question...

just let it be...(assuming u are fishless??). first couple of runs for me i just dumped in out of the bottle as well and everything turned out fine...if there's no fish you cant really OD on ammonia...i think you can slow down the bacteria a little bit but it wont hurt anything....
