I think you can use sea salt too. Most instruction packs that I've seen specifically say don't use regular table salt.

Use aquarium salt. Regular table salt has iodine in it. To much kills inverts.

    Growing Green Water Advice?

Buy an algae disc from Florida Aqua Farms. There are numerous how-to's about growing it on the internet. When I decide to culture rotifers I do it in two 10 gallon tanks half full and culture about 14 gallons of phytoplankton a long with it. I stock up about 10 gallons of phyto before I start my...

    Reef safe star fishs

You're probably thinking of green brittle starfish, which are carnivores and will actively hunt for fish. The average run of the mill brittle starfish are perfectly "fish safe".

Help needed for Culturing Rotifers for clownfish fry

I used a .53 micron sleeve to catch them all. Really it just catches all the adults. The babies pass through, but since they breed so fast at 80F I don't worry about it. I kept the salinity at about 1.020 that way when I add tank water I don't have to worry about the rotifers going into salinity...

Help needed for Culturing Rotifers for clownfish fry

I used a 10 gallon tank to raise fry and breed rotifers. Over about a month I bred rotifers in the 10 gallon tank. Each week adding more water and phyto, keeping the temp at 80f. Once I reached hatching day I cleaned out the tank leaving about a gallon of rotifer water and adding about 3 gallon...

    Please help!

There is something about your tank it doesn't like. It'll keep moving till it finds the right conditions for it. It could be your flow, water parameters, lights, etc. A little back ground about your tank could help give ideas about what may be wrong.

    angler fish

The fish would have to be bigger than the angler, and grow faster than the angler. They can eat fish as big as themselves.

    Breeding Clownfish

The hermit crabs will be fine. The male clown will protect the eggs. If any hermit crab gets to close he will move it. I've watched mine move snails that have gotten to close to the eggs as well as biting me if my hand gets to close for their comfort.

    Brine shrimp hatchery

They'll lay eggs in conditions that are unsuitable for them to continue living. It's basicly their defense to ensure their survival. If they are in ideal conditions, they give birth to live babies. If not, they lay eggs, and when the water returns to appropriate conditions the eggs will hatch...

    Coral banded shrimp?

I have a CBS, Anemone Crab, Peppermint Shrimps, Cleaner Shrimp, Emerald Crabs, and a decorator crab in a 150g 5ft tank. None of them mess with each other. During the day my CBS hangs out upside down under a rock. At night he roams the entire tank. Doesn't mess with my fish or go after anything...

    Help pls Condy nem

It's never a sure thing a clown will host any anemone. I have two RBT in my tank and the most my Clarkiis will do is swim by them. Here's my Mated Clarkii pair spawning beside my Condy anemone.

    Diy live rock

I made some about a year ago. I put the pieces in the back part of my toilet for 2 months, and I've had no issues with it. I found this much easier than doing water changes every day.

    Best Beginner Coral

Pom Pom Xenia's are easy. As are Kenya trees... Neither of which I will put in a new tank again. I'm tired of having to trim them almost every week. The Xenia's have about 4 inch stalks. The Kenya trees drop new branches every week and the Xenia's just grow like weeds.

    Clown hosting in open brain

I wouldn't worry about it either. My clown hosted my clam until I moved the clam to the other side of the tank. Now he host my duncan coral and at first they would close up. Now they aren't bothered by him. They don't seem to mind him "sucking" on the tentacles anymore either.

    Brine shrimp hatchery

Brine Shrimp need to be fed about 12 hours after hatching. This is when they molt into their second larval stage and start feeding. At this point they'll start starving if they aren't fed. I use a 10 gallon tank with some acrylic, pvc pipe, and airline tubing to create an oval tank and make a...

    Do my bulbs stink?

You can run the lights later as well. Or you could run then a few hours in the morning and the a few hours in the even and have them off in the middle. I would get a submersible thermometer, the ones that sick to the glass can be very inaccurate

    Do my bulbs stink?

Since your tank is only 2 months old, most of that will go away with time. I would try for around 8 hours. But you'll have to find a time that works for your tank considering your environment. In the winter I could run the lights 24/7 if it wouldn't kill my tank since the average out side temp...
