    CPR bak pak skimmers are pretty good and non-expensive. I am currently using one on my 40 gallon frag tank and I love it. As listed above reef octopus skimmer are really good too they just cost a little more

    Regular salt doesn't hurt the corals but I would recommend switching to reef crystals. But to answer your question, yes it would be okay to just start doing water changes with reef crystals even though the water that is currently in your tank is regular salt

    Okay so you need to start off with a light. I would recommend a nice 4 bulb t-5 light or a metal halide(Viper makes a 150watt clamp on metal halide that would be perfect for your tank) once you get a light you need to figure out what you want to do for filtration.     Not sure if there's any fish you can put with your groupers that will help control the pods. Most Angel, Butterfly, Hawk and Wrasse, some shrimp, any sand shifting gobys will eat them as they are part of there diet

    Instant ocean certainly will not hurt your corals however I would recommend reef crystals. You wouldn't have to start over with new water either, I would save your old water I would just start doing water changes with reef crystals when you've gotten it setup reef
