I did re-do the layout and am planning on the black on the back soon. Thanks for the input.

    Another cycling question

So, I have been cycling the tank for about 3 weeks. Fishless cycle, feeding flake food and have a raw shrimp. 41 gallon tank with sand & live cured rock. The highest the ammonia reached was 1.0. The highest on nitrates was 10 & nitrites never raised. Is this normal because of the live rock? I...

    Hi Everyone

I am fairly new here. Have been lurking for about a year. I have experience in freshwater, however, have just taken the leap to saltwater :) What I have is a Fluval Osaka 155 (41 Gallon) Tank. About a week ago I started the tank with sand, salt water & Live rock, which it mostly cured & best...

    Water clear (mostly)

Thinking I need to spread it out some. Is it OK to have it touching the sides / back for stability?

    Chcked some parameters tonight

Thanks guys, I was reading the hydrometer the wrong way it should have been 1.025 ;) I rechecked it today and it is very slightly above 1.024. Will check them again tomorrow and see if there is any change.

    Chcked some parameters tonight

Got the tank going about a week ago, put in the sand, live (mostly cured) rock. Finally got it aquascaped yesterday & added more saltwater in today. I only have a partial kit that came With the tank set up, I will need to get others to complete it I guess? Anyway. Salinity is 34 Ammonia is .25...

    Staring to clear!

Hopping tomorrow I can start aquascaping, since I kinda just had to get the free live rock in. The pic doesn't do the rock justice, lots of good color, just covered right now with a layer of sand.

    Sand question.

That seemed to help some, still cloudy, my thoughts now are about it kicking back up when I go to aquascape. Any thoughts? Should I do a partial water change this early in the set up?

    Sand question.

Thanks I did turn it off and rise everything in the filter, hopefully it will help things settle.

    Live rock?

Great! Thanks for the info. I saw some at a Lfs & thought it would look cool. I have family in Texas & it's all over their property. Wonder what I would have to do to it to be able to put it in the aquarium? Too risky? I could have them bring me some next month ;)

    Sand question.

I won't get into the details, but I caused a little bit of a sandstorm & as much as I tried to avoid it, it still happened. I have read both of the following, just would like to know what has worked better for everyone. 1- turn everything off & let the sand settle 2- leave the filter going...

    Live Rock SCORE!

No, no pics yet. Kinda got too much sand in & had to take some out, caused a sandstorm & couldn't even see the rock to aquascape. Everything is in, just waiting for it to clear so I can get it looking good & put the rest of the sand back in. Oh well, even the best laid plans.... Was wanting...

Stocking a fluval osaka 155 (41 gallon tank)

What about this one: White Tailed Pygmy Also known as the Pacific Pygmy Angel. Its a hardy fish and will do great in the aquarium. The Centropyge Genus are made up of smaller fish that feed primarilyon algae from the reef surface. These smaller Angels areoften seen milling around reefs which...

    Live rock?

What about adding dry Texas Holey rock? I found some pretty cheap at a Lfs. It is dry rock.
  22. Jenni8675309

OK, this may be a dumb question, but here goes

Yeah Ray, I did not choose my words well there, on the live sand..It was late . I had intended to go the route Carey has done, with the pool filter sand, but locally (& I mean very close by) there was no where that had it in stock. I was in the LFS getting some other things & looking...

Stocking a fluval osaka 155 (41 gallon tank)

Thanks Guys, I will do more research on it, have lots of time while the tank cycles ;) So bummed, originally wanted tangs... but, I have no where for such a long tank... the dwarf angles are a good alternative IMO, to the look of the tang for a smaller tank. Seams like with any of it, I am...
