    Fish panting after water change

Those questions were pretty much answered throughout the post, and I don't like repeating myself over and over. Anyway, it has already been sorted. I looked up videos and apparently it is perfectly normal for blue dwarf gouramies to do that "glub glub" thing with their mouths constantly. I just...

    Fish panting after water change

It wasn't the main tank filter, it was the filter on my battery powered gravel vacuum. But yeah, I'm not doing that again.

    Fish panting after water change

No the fish's gills haven't turned a color or anything. jetajockey- I'm pretty sure if I had a water problem it would have manifested itself before a year. I faithfully change it every week. There is no toxin build up. I become frustrated with this constant outcry that there is something wrong...

    Fish panting after water change

This is not a water quality problem. I have been using the exact same water for over a year. This particular water I poured in out of the identical bucket of water I used the last two times. Even if it lacked minerals a 25% change wouldn't have made a differance.

    Fish panting after water change

I refer you to my signature: Don't worry about my water parameters. My levels are at 0. My water is filtered by reverse osmosis and then ionized, instantly neutralizing all pathogens, bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, metals and pollutants. Could it have been from breathing in bits of stuff...

    Fish panting after water change

Well it's day two and I still have panting fish. Including the gourami. And they come up to the surface to breath. Haven't seen him come up to the surface or try and gasp for oxygen so it's not an oxygen issue. And it isn't water quality because it is exactly the same water. I'm trying to put...

    Fish panting after water change

I considered that. The water was colder than what was in the tank. But I've heated it back up and still with the panting.

    Fish panting after water change

Not sure what happened here. Vacuumed the gravel, then changed out about 25% of their water, and they started panting. I used water from the exact same source as the last two times (I buy a 5 gallon bucket.) The only thing I can think of, is a tiny trace amount of chlorine may have got in...

Don't euthanize that tetra! It might not have NTD!

Actually, they don't. They are in there with other fish, whom I am looking at right now. If they have got any lighter at all it is so slight as to be totally unnoticeable. Over the years I have had gourami, loaches, betta, goldfish, guppies - and never in my life witnessed any of them change...

Don't euthanize that tetra! It might not have NTD!

If the other fish got any lighter at all it was so slight as to be unnoticeable. Unlike tetras, who can turn so clear you can see their insides.

Don't euthanize that tetra! It might not have NTD!

A bottle of clove oil in hand and tears in my eyes, I was minutes away from administering the lethal dose. Then after more internet digging I figured out - there was nothing wrong with my fish. Nope. Nothing at all. Problem is - when you first do a google search for "pale tetra" Or "tetra...

    Neon Tetra Disease Question

Well, crap. They turned bright colored for several minutes, then turned pale again. Nearly clear. What's going on? They seem to be reacting to the overhead lamp. When the lamp is on they are their normal color, but when I turn it back off again they turn pale. None of them are...

    Neon Tetra Disease Question

FALSE ALARM Turns out I don't have NTD or even FNTD in my tank - what I DID have in my tank, however, was too much aquarium salt. I had misread the directions, and added it as if my fish were sick. I did a 50% water change, and my tetra's color came back instantly. It was amazing. For...

    Neon Tetra Disease Question

Okay, so I was able to figure out my tertras have neon tetra disease. They have slowly lost their color and developed tumor/cysts. What's weird is even the cardinal has it. He has gone completely white. But it's controversial whether or not they are really immune or not. It's taken a very...

    blood worm question

Tetras, a loach, and a dwarf gourami. The tetras pretty much ignore me but the loach and gourami are very friendly and swim up when anyone approaches the tank.

    blood worm question

Man, these fish are going to be shooting me some accusing looks when they don't get their daily bloodworms. Every time I walk by the tank they swim up expectantly. :hide:

single white raised sore near tetra's gill

The water is tested at the lfs. I buy the water from the lfs and have watched them test it. Put in a call to the LFS - they said Nitrites are 0, Ammonia is 0, everything is 0, it's pure Ionized water. The ionizing process instantly neutralizes all pathogens, bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae...

    blood worm question

So I give my fish their regular food, but I also give them blood worms daily. Is that okay? Or am I supposed to only give blood worms as a treat?

single white raised sore near tetra's gill

I just did a water change the day before this happened. I looked up ulcers and it said it can be limited to just one fish who has health issues. Which this little guy always had from the beginning.

single white raised sore near tetra's gill

I buy my water from the fish store. It's really good water he filters it 4 times. Honestly, this one fish has never been well since I got him. Surprised he made it this long. Hope it hasn't spread to the others.

single white raised sore near tetra's gill

Okay, checked on him this morning and he's not dead yet, but whatever it is, it seems to be getting larger. It looks like a canker sore is spreading across his side?

single white raised sore near tetra's gill

This one green tetra has looked strange since I got him, nearly a year ago. He had these darker patches on him. Yet he still swam around with the rest, eating, and acted fine. So I thought, okay, he's never acted sick, maybe he just has funny coloring. I looked online and never found any...

Case of the mysterious vanishing clown loach

Also, I was quite surprised when my blue dwarf gourami got excited during a feeding, swam up to the top and shot a stream of water at me. Trying to "knock the bug into the water." I didn't know they did that. Was very amusing.

    Unfortunate Incident. :(

Why can't the jerk do a water change? Would it break his arms? If he agreed to having the tanks there in his place, doesn't that imply some responsibility to the fish? I can't imagine letting any creature in my care, or in my house, just die. He just sits there watching them get sicker...

I am about to drop-kick my tank out the window

Oh, your post gave me a good laugh. I'd be ripping up some plants right now if I were you.
