    T5 lights always shipped broken...

I'm trying to buy a 6500k t5ho bulb for my planted tank. Every time they ship, I find the bulb broken. Luckily I've been given a full refund every time, but I need this bulb. What Should I do?

    Sniperhank's UPGRADED 55 gal Build

What does your sump look like? I solved that problem by wrapping a sheet of egg crate with black mesh (inert of course). I cut it so it was a little less than the width of the tank, and jammed it in there, never had an issue since.

    Need lighting help!

It's programming, when you put a computer into this stuff, you can do some crazy things. For example, have your tank tell you your ph level, and if its above 7.5, give electricity to an alarm that shoots a text to your phone telling you the exact ph. Just an idea of a basic thing you could do.

    Need lighting help!

If it's an led fixture with a dimmable driver, it's possible. If not, then it still kinda can, the controller can be used as a timer that turns it on an off.

    Need lighting help!

Here's the actual led part, lets see if I can find the rest.. http://www.aquastyleonline.com/products/Moonlight-kit.html Edit: This is as good as I could find, but it could do basically everything you want, and it doesn't have to be for a reef

    Need lighting help!

Well, they are dimmable, and used on a controller. The controller tells the dimmer (a potentiometer) how much power it should get and for how long.

Buffy's 1st Ever SW Build - Reef Tank

How long is it? My 3ft tank needed them 12" above it so it didn't fry everything even with it dimmed and for even exposure. Mine is 16" deep. I dealt with the same problem, just say you like the industrial look ;) Also, make sure you transition them slowly. This will add a ton of light to the...

    Need lighting help!

Moonlight led lighting is for nighttime, they won't bother the fish, they actually help with breeding habits in some cases. If you get the fancy ones, they'll match phases of the moon, super cool. They are by no means mandatory though, just a cool bonus.

Buffy's 1st Ever SW Build - Reef Tank

I'd say either get your local fish store to take care of the tank if they do that, or take it down. If its too much, it's too much. Sorry if that sounds harsh, it's not supposed to be.

Which light for my planted tank?

Yeah, I'm used to 20k whites.. It'll be a transition. I'll bought the ge starcoat 6500k today. Just one bulb, I'll use the fishneedit bulb for the other. And yeah, I should've explained myself better, I was thinking flourish excel and the flourish for micro supplements. Would that all work?

Which light for my planted tank?

Ah, great to see someone else with them. By the way, as it was said earlier... 50% off over there, if youre looking for light, go there! I think ill buy different bulbs at some point soon, i just dont want my tank to look yellow, which i dread. I think im going to dose with flourish instead...

Which light for my planted tank?

They didn't have the option with the fixture I bought unfortunately :/ and thanks, cheaper with the same quality is always great. So, If actinics aren't good.. What bulbs should I get for growth but that will still be visually appealing to me?

Which light for my planted tank?

30 gallon. And ahh okay, what should my bulb combo be? And I don't think I could get any lower of a temperature at the site, I'll be looking at somewhere else for those geisemman bulbs, and keep stock lighting for a little bit.

Which light for my planted tank?

Welp, i purchased a light from fishneedit, 2x 39watts. One is actinic, other is 10k white I believe. I bought from them before, they are a great company. Even better news, it was a store clearance half off. 50$ :D The LEDs would be way too much, I'm sure of it. I had them on the same tank with...

Which light for my planted tank?

I am looking for a t5ho fixture for a planted tank. I recently switched from having a high tech reef, to planted again. I wanted to keep it pretty simple and hopefully cheaper. Ive heard that 2 bulb t5's are what i should be looking at, is this true? Im not sure if id like to dose with co2, but...

What should go into a planted sump?

Ah, okidokee. Well do you know how often they need to be cleaned? I've never used them, I used to just have media and filter floss.

What should go into a planted sump?

What would the maintenance be for the scrubbers? I'm willing to clean them, but I'm not wanting constant maintenance.

What should go into a planted sump?

I'm sorry, I must have misworded myself above. This will be a planted tank, I am just wondering if there is anything I should be putting in the sump. My issue is that my light is much too powerful for plants right now. I will add them once I buy the light. I'm just wanting some good filtration...
