    Isopods and GreeneX

I used Greenex at one point in my tank for ich, and I'm pretty sure we had all our LR in at that time. We still ended up with an isopod problem, so I don't think the Greenex had any effect on them.

    Cirolnoid (sp?) Isopods

As far as I know they just feed on fish. When we left our tank fallow, we didn't remove any of the snails or hermits or anything, just the fish. It's been over a month since we started everything up again, and so far (knock on wood) I haven't seen any isopods. Best time to catch them is at...

    Cirolnoid (sp?) Isopods

I had an infestation of cirolanids, and we ended up leaving our tank fallow for 8 months (mostly because I was too lazy to remove all the crabs and snails to try Interceptor). You could try moving everything into your 55 and then using Interceptor in your 125 (I would say that nuking it with FW...

    Stocking Suggestions

I'd thought about a mate for the perc, but wasn't sure how to go about introducing one. Do you get one that's smaller or bigger?

    Stocking Suggestions

My original thoughts were perhaps a royal gramma or a coral beauty (or both?). The coral beauty I'm hesitant about, because if it turns out to like my clam or corals, it's going to be impossible to get out without tearing stuff down, and I don't want to do that. Beyond those two though, I'm...

    Clam Happiness?

I just stopped by Aquascene yesterday - they had a lot of clams but mostly 2" or smaller. Lots of nice looking SPS, but I haven't started on those yet. :)

    Clam Happiness?

He's on a smallish piece of LR right now, but I may try that shell suggestion in case I want to move him up higher. I go all over the place for LFS's. :) I usually go to Aquatic Gallery, Aquatic Variations, Mermaid Aquarium (where I got the clam), Aquarium Concepts, The Aquarium, and All About...

    Clam Happiness?

I acclimated as I usually do - letting the bag float, and adding small amounts of water every 10 minutes or so for about an hour. I placed it a bit higher on the rocks yesterday, and the mantle was open and folded over. In the morning, I found that it had pushed itself over on to the sandbed...

    Clam Happiness?

I just picked up a 4" crocea clam yesterday, and I'm not entirely sure how to tell if it's happy or not. The mantle is fully extended and open, but it's not laying down on the sides of the clam - it's extended a bit upwards. Here's a photo: Does it look okay, or does it look stressed?

Here's what a cirolanid isopod looks like in the water too:

Thumper, do you have an pics of your setup? I'm having a hard time picturing it. Thanks. :)

Yellow Watchman Goby vs. Flame Hawkfish

Okay, sounds like the hawkfish is out - I have a bunch of snails/hermits as well as a peppermint shrimp. Thanks for the info. :) My LR isn't placed on the bottom, I just kind of pushed them into the sand as much as I could. The pieces I have at the foundation are all very large, wide-bottomed...

Yellow Watchman Goby vs. Flame Hawkfish

I was planning on getting a pistol shrimp if I got the goby...is the sand moving a big problem?

Yellow Watchman Goby vs. Flame Hawkfish

I'm trying to decide on a bottom/rock dweller for my 70g, and am debating between a Yellow Watchman Goby and a Flame Hawkfish. From what I've read about the Hawkfish, it wouldn't be a good idea to keep both, so I'd have to choose just one. Any opinions on which would be better? They both seem...

    Fan Placement

I'm getting MH lights (to add to my PCs), so I know I'm going to need to install some fans in my canopy. Does it work to simply install the fans hanging on the back (blowing out?), or do I need to cut holes in the sides and install them there? Do you generally blow air in or out?

    Converting Wet/Dry to Refugium

I've got a wad of Chaetomorpha in there right now. Since getting a light in there I noticed all these white, gooey looking clumps in there. I'm not sure what they are, they don't seem to move.

    Converting Wet/Dry to Refugium

Added the PVC, worked like a charm. :) Do I need a sand bed in there, or is the LR rubble sufficient? The way the baffles are set up in the wet dry would make it difficult to have a sand bed, unless I can somehow stack the sand up on one end, away from the baffles.

    BAD LFS!!!!

An LFS in my area has a book area that also has two computers with an internet connection, so you can research things while you're there. I think it's a really nice idea. :)

    Converting Wet/Dry to Refugium

Okay, sounds good, I'll have to see if I can find some PVC to fit. :)

    Converting Wet/Dry to Refugium

I'm currently in the process of converting my wet/dry to a fuge. I've finally finished removing all the bio balls, and have a small amount of LR rubble in there. One of the things I've noticed is an increase in noise since removing the bio balls - our wet dry is set up with an acrylic lid that...

    Using Drinking Water?

Well at the moment, it's either lug the water from the store or the LFS, and the store happens to be closer. :) We plan on getting an RO/DI unit soon, but until then, we're stuck hauling a couple of 5-gallon jugs around.
