    ph in cichlid tank (80)gallon

I don't add chemicals other than prime during water changes. My ph is around 7.4 with just crushed coral in my sump. The fish are doing great...breeding like crazy and the colors are vibrant. Just my opinion.

    Fish id assistance

haha. I def don't want a hybrid fry surviving in my tank. Too bad you aren't closer, I'd give you the long lost sister..who by the way is def holding. Watching the spawning was kind of cool...took a video. lol

    Fish id assistance

Taking advice from here and another forum, I'm not going to chance she isn't a benga. I'm going to move her asap to another tank until I decide my next step with her.

the shape of her head is whats throwing me off. My other benga female has a more "rounded" slope to her head.

    Fish id assistance

Recently my benga male has been giving this female the ole "how you doin?" And chasing her around. Could she be a benga variation? Her marking are the same as a benga female except the top of her head is slightly different. Thanks sorry third pic is a duplicate of first pic

    ph in cichlid tank (80)gallon

Baking soda is safe in the aquarium. Dissolve it in a cup of tank water first. Use is small amounts...changes in Ph should be done gradually. As others have said and I agree totally, a stable Ph is what is important. If you can add things like crushed coral it will help you maintain the ph you want.

    Help Please - Cloudy Water

Two would be sufficient IMO. Keep up with the big eater changes until things are under control. Aqueon is a big company and I have some of their products but not any filters. I'm sure they are just as good but I don't like to assume :-) Aquaclear also makes great filters.

    Help Please - Cloudy Water

You should turn over (filter) your water at a least ten times per hour. So for your 80 try to filter 800 gph. That's how others came up with the 800 gph. I have a 90 tank with a 30 gal sump and filter 950 gph. My weekly pwc is about 30% or so.

    A pond in texas help!

I'm in NY and back when I had a pond, my fish never had any problems surviving winter. My deep end was I think 3.5 feet. I never used heaters or bubbler to keep a hole in the ice. When the water temp starts cooling in the fall, I would stop feeding the fish and remove all plants. In the deep end...
