Red Tail Black Shark seems unhappy

Hi guys, little update, but unfortunately, my Sharkey has died today. R.I.P. The meds either didn't work, or were too late. I'm pretty gutted, but at least he's no longer in pain if he was before. Quick question, I'd like to bury him, (might sound silly but he meant a lot to me) but Im not home...

Red Tail Black Shark seems unhappy

Yea he has always been fine with the other fish. Usually he's the one doing the chasing, but they all normally live in harmony and he never gets bullied. I think ill start treating finrot, and hope he improves. Do fish stop eating when they have finrot? Because i haven't seen him eat in a...

Red Tail Black Shark seems unhappy

Ao i think he has developed finrot, but im not sure what else it could be. He has sore patches where his fins come out of his body, and his gills look quite red. he has also lost a lot of weight in the last few days. So should i now treat for finrot? Or a bacterial infection?

Red Tail Black Shark seems unhappy

So my shark has moved off the bottom for the first time in a week, but still seems bad. This morning ive noticed all his fins seem to be rotting away. Is this finrot? If so, could it be causing his other symptoms? this is the best picture i can get at the moment. You can just about see his...

Hi everyone, So in the last week or so my Red Tail Has begun acting really strangely. Ive had him for about 4 years now in his 30g tank and all this time (even through moving house 2 years ago) he has been happy, gets along with the other fish in there and he swims about and eats normally and...

    Snail Invasion!

Hi there, So, basically i have wayyyyyyy too many snails and i need to 'rid' my tank of a few of them. I have a large planted tank, with 2 filter/pumps, a 100w heater light, lid gravel. The normal works. In it i have 8 Neon Tetras and 1 Red tailed shark. I also own hundreds of snails...

    First tank. :)

Well, males are more aggressive, and are pitch black in colour, whereas females tend to get greyer on the belly than males. Apart from that im not sure, ask at your local pet store. (:

    First tank. :)

Acctually, in bigger groups of 6ish you can school red tailed sharks. But that could get quite an expensive fishing shop! :P And i think if u put a male with a few females then thats okay aswell, because in my local fish store they have 6 or 7 in a tank with a frog and some snails :P

    First tank. :)

Okay thats really helpful thanks. Its tricky getting the right temperature, but it should be okay (: So what do you keep in your tank? Because even rainbow sharks are quite picky ive heard? And especially red tailed, theyre hard to find tank mates for! :P

    First tank. :)

Dont worry, my fault completely! And yeah, i think its that people dont realise the fragility of fish, and that their certain conditions must be met (: And originally i had planned for 3 Ottos, and 4 Fancy guppies. But, when i got home this evening, (after id written the original post) i...
