    What is this?

A few in a tank is good but watch out they can quickly take over your tank, if that happens consider harlequin shrimp that's their natural food.

    Might go planted...

If your doing a planted tank you will need plant bulbs, I would use fluorite as a sub-strait and you will have to add co2 by either liquid or gas. Fluval makes a great co2 gas system a bottle will last a month.

    Please identify coral

You don't half to use the whole cube use a 1/2 cube and your fish will eat the rest, best way is a mixture of what I said earlier then use a syringe about 2" from it just let the mixture flow to the coral.

    Good test kit

If your lfs is using quality salt stick with it, there probably mixing using RO water which will eliminate most of your phosphates right there. depending on how many sps and lps you have will determine how fast your calcium and magnesium are being depleted. Anther good dosing is oceans blend...

    New Cichlid Tank

Not a good combo, labs are too aggressive, angels and rams may get along but live in much different ph conditions. African cichlids and, south American cichlids usually do not mix well.

My wood is releasing slimmy liquid into my tank?

Pull the wood out and scrub it really good under hot water, you can net the water surface with a brine net that may help a bit. A lot of time you get a white fungus on the wood and a Corey cat will take care of that once your tank is cycled.

Mandarins, are they really a difficult fish?

There's a great article in coral mag this month all on dragonettes. Yes it's possible to train them on live and frozen brine, Copepods can be purchased at most lfs.

    Please identify coral

If you want to do some spot feeding (which i recommend) use a mixture of phytoplankton, amino acids and gut loaded mysis shrimp 3 times a week you will notice a significant difference.
