Help....
I've got guppies and danios in my 60l tank. I've lost 3 guppies in the past due to swim bladder.
My guppies are swimming erratically and their bodies look like their bent in half.
Is swim bladder infectious and after losing 3 guppies to swim bladder before and one having problems at...
Hi everyone
I noticed last night when feeding my fish a new baby fish in the tank and one of my usually bright blue guppies looking slightly odd. (see attached). I have since been to my lfs and got a fish hatchery and put the blue one and the baby in.
My blue guppy's tail is hanging down and...
My missing fish was found. It had got stuck behind my filter and it must have tried to free itself and lodge itself further - it had small cuts over it's body and was a nightmare to remove from the back of filter. Needless to say it had died
Last night I done a 10pwc and ammonia still 0.25!! After introducing the bogwood the ph levels is coming down although the water a light tea-bag colour!!! Was counting my fish though and I seem to have 3 missing!! How on earth can fish go missing. Am at a loss it seems when I try fix one problem...
Went to lfs to get some bogwood to help ph level it's the highest it can be it's dark purple on test kit so this is probably been why danios upset. The fish are all Alive though. Also been advised to turn temp up to 28-29 to get rid of the ammonia that's there (0.25) and to keep light off for...
Ok well hopefully when I go home my fish will be alive still but if not then ill definitely do fishless cycle. I guess it is all about gettin it right with water but it just seems so difficult to start with. Tropical fish keeping is hard business. Will update my fish status when get home.
Thanks Jason great article I will keep in mind when get a new bn plec
Beavismom I've done a 40 pwc today so going to test water later, is it about 6hours I should leave water after doing a water change before testing?
I do have fish in tank so I will try some coral gravel from lfs don't want to use powder if that means it's chemical and will alter things.
Will it be ok to keep using two filters?
Ok I will get some ammonia for the cycle. At the moment I am using 2 filters as the one we got with tank (marina slimfilter) wasn't very effective and didn't really oxygenate the tank well so we got a fluval u2 free of charge from our local lfs. The fluval has been in as well as the marina...
Thanks for your help and advice and link attachments. My last test of water was about a week ago where ammonia was 0.25 Nitrite was 0 and nitrate was 5.0ppm. The ph was reading 8.2. Our guppies and danios seem unfazed and are acting and feeding as per usual. I am going to do a 40 pwc today and...
Our tank is a 60l tank.
Not so sure about the cycling of tank though all I know is I do a change every week. Was doing a 40% change every few days due to algae build up.
MAybe I need to just do a 20% change once a week and not the 40 I was doing. I also got a new filter called fluval u2 but am currently running two filters still to let new one build up its maybe that as well. Will monitor water and ph and maybe introduce new bn plec next weekend.
Been advised to try the powder stuff to bring down the ph level, but i didn't know if that would help long term would I need to do it every water change. Wonder what has caused the plec to die
The plec died after 2days of bein in tank. We tested water and ph levels was 8.2. Our water quality is bad and we only ever drink bottled water. Lfs said this would have caused plec to die. We got powder stuff to reduce the ph level and been advised to only use bottle water to put into tank...
I have recently got a bn pleco (yesterday) and since then it has been hiding under the rock. Am used to crazy active fish like danios and guppies so am frustrated this isn't moving.
I've read on different websites you can feed them cucumber, spinach and green beans am I right in thinking that...
