    New friends in old places

Hi again all. So I added a 55g salt to my tank load and of course had to get new sand and rock to compensate. There appear to be some coral things glued to the rock. Can anyone give me some info? My main question is, if a coral breaks off, or is broken off from the main body, does it live and...

Would this setup for a FOWLR would be ok?

I use the coralife super skimmer 65, and the only issue u have us that the air tube clogs occasionally with salt fir some reason. Otherwise it works fantastically in my 65g.

Butterfly fish, and wierd little wormy guy

This butterfly fish resembles a spotfin but has no spot... 4" in size. Anyone? This one pretty much freaked me out. Tiny yellow and black strings stretched out from cracks in the rock, no idea what they are. Then they banded together and crawled like a worm across the rock. Never seen...

This is my sump refugium. I have no clue what im doing, so I will describe what I did and hope that someone can tell me good or bad. On the left is the inlet compartment, with pump, skimmer, and main tank inlet, as well as a bunch of live rock rubble. In the middle is a deep sand bed...

    Bio ball live rock replacement

Aesthetics With this much life rock, and the dimensions of my tank, it is hugely cluttered. I want to open it up some, while keeping good filtration. I have an hob, canister, and the live rock currently. The canister is new, so I am cycling it in a different tank.

    Preventative Question

Hi all. I hope this post is in the right place, as I was unable to find a thread that was closer to what I am concerned about. So my 65g tank is very nice, but I want to add some corals or other interesting things in the near future. I have a few lingering aiptasia however, and I am...

    Odd little guy

I don't have actinics. That was regular room light. This is my 10gallon holding tank. Have 2 clowns and live rock and sand. That's all. Will majano sting/hurt my clowns? I've heard that they don't get hurt much by anemones what with living in them and all. If not, aside from massive...

    Creating new water

Hi again all. So for my 55g tank, I want to make a holding tank for new saltwater so I don't have to make it up as I go along. I have a big tub, some salt, and a 450gph submersible pump. Is this adequate? Also, aside from the chlorine&chloramines, is there anything I have to worry about with...

Green bubbles & wierd disc like thing

I just watched one of the discs move across the rock... The algae is a problem, as it is all over the 4 pieces I got from the guy. I have a coral banded shrimp, hermit crab, star fish, blue damsel, moray eel,and a coral beauty angel in the tank right now. Will any of them take a swing at it?

    Ammolock

Introduced new live sand, and live rock. It had ammonia readings when I brought it home. If it didnt have life already in it,i would have started over from scratch. I bought the ammo lock because I wanted to eliminate the toxicity of the ammonia while the tank cycles again.

    Ammolock

I don't have an adequate test kit. I have the do steps for now. Showing some nitrites with rising nitrates. Ammonia tester is old. Little yellow labeled bottle that I drop 5 drops into 5ml of water. If it comes up not clear, there is ammonia. The live rock I am adding is already cured. From an...
