Hooray! When I'm finished , should I add a few fish or completely stock ? My dilemma is I'm going away soon for 5 days . If I leave it my cycle will stall without addition of ammonia. But I would also not be able to get anyone to feed my fish. Decisions decisions.

Hi pH is now settled at 7.5. Ammonia 3ppm is being converted in 12 hours ! However nitrites are still around 2ppm. So I'm mid cycle ?

Yay my cycle has started !!!!! Ammo dropped to 1ppm and nitrates from 0 to 2ppm !

Been over three weeks now . Still no change. Ammo same nitrites still 0 . This will happen won't it.? Readings same above. Nesh

Ph now steady at about 7.8. Will see what it is like in the morning .

Hi again, Two weeks now and no change in ammonia, no nitrites present :( added some tetra safe start again two days ago. Added a couple of fish flakes as someone else suggested. :( still nothing. Parameters all the same as last time. Did use dechlorinator, heater is on. Hmmmmm Any suggestions?

Ok just took some readings. Softened water straight out of tap pH 7.2 Tank water pH 8.4 with API liquid test and pH 9 with dip stick Ammonia 4ppm No nitrites. Anything I should be doing ?

Thanks folks. What I will do is test of pH from the soft water tap and another test of the tank water. I will post shortly ....... Would a buffering agent help ? Or will this hinder the cycling ?
