    I'm missing something, pressurized co2

Everything Mfdrookie says is spot on, I used his threads and a few PMs to get my system going. It did take about a week of constant monitoring to get my system to be more care free, just check it and adjust. I am trying to say mine would produce bubbles then stop like you are experiencing, I...

Marineland LED Double Bright Aquarium Lighting System: Any good for plants?

I had the marineland reef ready version on my planted 46 gallon bow front. I pump CO2 and my plants grew like crazy with the exception of the baby tears and dwarf grass. I just replaced this LED system with a 4-light T5 fixture and the amount of light hitting the bottom of the tank is...

    I am addicted

Got my driftwood, rocks, and plants in now. Still waiting on my shipment of clown killfish, hopefully they come in this week. The tank is home to 1 angelfish, 6 swordtails, and some snails to date. The lounge chairs are for my wife and I to kick back and chill at the shore...

Here is the updated photo of my planted tank (with CO injection) now that I finally found plants I am happy with, at least until I tinker again tomorrow...

    Co2 question

I am not sure what the metric size was, since I could not find metric barbs it did not matter. The 5/8" hose fit onto the cannister connector so that is what I bought. My problem was that the 5/8" was to thick to bend into my tank for the return line. That is why I tried using the original hose...

    Moss balls

I was browsing the forums trying to think of a reason to go the my lfs today. Now I have one... Those moss balls look cool, think I am going to have to find a couple for my tank.

    Co2 question

I built the same type reactor for my Fluval 305. I could not find metric barbs so I bought a hose with an inner diameter 5/8" and only had to use it from the cannister output to the reactor input. It fit tightly enough on the cannister connection and the screw tightened enough to prevent leaks...

    Troubled waters

Big difference from the 1st picture. This tank is coming along rather nicely, good job!

    CO2 reactor built and connected

I put in a plastic one. I ordered a 6-pack from Dr Foster and Smith aquatics. The reviews I read said it would do good for 6 months to a year. I made an Outlook reminder for 6 months, they are cheap and I'd rather replace them before they wear out.

    CO2 and PH questions

My PH reading prior to adding CO2 was 7.5 I used a purchased test kit and tested the KH and GH this morning using water from the aquarium: KH was 4 drops (71.6 ppm) and GH was 7 drops (125.3 ppm). A calculation spreadsheet I found online computes to lowering PH to 6.9 to get a 19.064 ppm CO2...

    CO2 reactor built and connected

Thanks. Mfdrookie516 - I decided to go this route after reading your 40BR thread. It resembles yours from the pictures and link you supplied. I do not have bubbles in my return. I did at first when the system had to work out the small air bubble after initial filling. It now runs smoothly...

    CO2 reactor built and connected

I went to another Home Depot last night and no luck. Was looking for another ACE hardware when someone told me there was a new Lowes down the street. Figured it was worth a shot -- they had enough pieces for me to make a new reactor without a handful of reducers. Here is my reactor. No leaks on...

    Changing filter question

Reactor leaks Houston, we have problems. :banghead: I have a small leak where the galvinized reducer is connected. I took it out, re-taped it and cranked it down. It still has a small leak. I have it wrapped up with a towel and a drip pan installed. I am running it like this until this weekend...

PPS Pro and pre-mixed Micro Macro Solution

Thanks all. I ordered the pre-mix before any responses came. I think I will use it to get going and let my wallet get caught up before I buy a scale and the individual fertilizers.

PPS Pro and pre-mixed Micro Macro Solution

Is the premixed Micro Macro solution available at Planted Aquarium Fertilizer - Home equivelant to ordering the fertilizers seperately? What are the pros/cons to ordering their premixed solution?

    Changing filter question

That's a great idea! When my CO2 hose arrives I will take it with me to the store and get a hose barb. My thought - cut the main PVC pipe in half, put a T connector with a reducer (or in the case of my local stores, 4-5 pieces ) and connect the hose barb and CO2 hose to that. Also, found...

    Changing filter question

Got my CO2 tank yesterday, filled it this morning. The regulator and other pieces will be here Monday. With that, I had a go at the DIY reactor. The Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace near my house are severly lacking in plumbing hardware. It took 3 trips to Home Depot, 2 trips to Ace, and 1 wasted trip...
