They are sooooo small. They would never show up in a photo. I can only see them when I shine a flashlight in the tank. The light reflects off of them and I can see them squiggling around. They are not really visible otherwise.

the subwassertang is moss like, but it is not a moss. It will attach to objects, but I think it's actually a fern type plant. Technically I believe it's a fern gametophyte, which is a very interesting type of plant....I think it can be described as a fern that never grows up. It can be difficult...

The Taiwan moss does grow well in low light. I had it at the bottom of a 24 inch tall tank with just one T5 bulb and it grew just fine. It will obviously grow faster in better lighting though. As a side note....The ABSOLUTE BEST way to attach moss to wood is to start it outside the tank...but...

Ok. Just finished cleaning the tank....the slime turns to a dark brown dust like substance when I soak it in potassium permanganate. Could it be brown diatoms??

I should elaborate on my set up. It is a 20 gallon betta tank with only the betta in it. I do have a very small filter-maybe 20 gallons per hour.

My camera sucks. I am going to pull it out to dip in potassium permanganate and I'll see if I can get a good pic. Thanks :)
