Hey everyone long time no see. I did in fact go through with it and have a beautiful and stable reef tank with over $1,500 worth of corals/fish alone that i got for a grand total of $228. You can't beat that.!!! Im going to post pics shortly :)

Most live rock by me is about half that. i bought 9lbs live rock and 20lbs lace rock for my 30 gal.

should a hob protein skimmer be added?

so if i had a 30 gal with 30lbs of live rock and a hob filter doing about 300gph is that considered good filtration for FOWLR?

Hey there, Welcome to AA. I kept RCC for a while. Be careful that they do not have access to any cords to climb out of the tank because they will do just that. escape artist is what they are!!

anything under 30 gals is really tough for sw. It requires much more care and water changes so your levels are safe. Be prepared to drop some $$ into the tank.

Be careful putting LR into an established aquarium. That could be a recipe for a ammonia spike.

Good question, im excited to see what everyone says. Is this rock being added to an already cycled tank? Wouldn't baking it turn it into dry rock?

The biocubes are what is hott right now. I have no experience with what you had or what they are going for. I just know that the 29's are very popular and easy to find on craigslist.
