    Air Stone question

For that size stone you might need to upgrade the pump, my single outlet one from Walmart didn't have enough power for the disk, I had to buy a smaller one and I have it under a piece of DW. Works well and gives the effect of bubbles coming from the wood

    New aquarium- weight concerns

build a box using 2x4s in the space below, then add doors/moldings to match the style of the rest of the room, the weight of the tank will be supported by that box and you can hide your fish stuff behind the doors.

    Hot glue gun

if your tank has a rim, you can get one of these: Legrand Wiremold 5 ft. Non-Metallic Raceway Wire Channel, White-NMW1 - The Home Depot I have mine attached with double sided tape and it has enough space for the air tubing and the heater cord

    DIY 3D Backgrounds

I posted mine in the other thread I went and bought soapstone (I think) the one used as trim or accent pieces, each strip is roughly 3/4 in by 3/4 in by 12 in. I glued them to the glass using aquarium safe silicon in random patterns after breaking the pieces to create depth. I had to keep...

    Stranger plant danger

That happened to me once, I removed it and placed it in a jar, then forgot about it and then noticed it died... Never knew what it was or how it got there. In my betta tank once a bug laid eggs, then my betta had a feast when they hatched, so no clue if a bug can transport a seed into the tank?

    Integrated sumps

Oh to answer your original question. The stone I chose for the background kept the water cloudy for a few days, I had to keep changing the batting daily for a week or so, it kept coming out yellowish until it came clear. I have batting, then filter media...

Plant it is :D the tank is already cycled, all levels are where they should be at and the 4 fish in there are happy so I don't want to go through all the hassle

    DIY 5 gallon hood?

If your tank has a rim you can get a piece of glass cut to size lengthwise and a little shorter on the width, so you have a small gap at the rear side of the tank to run your heater, filter wires air stone tubing, etc. Shouldn't be too expensive, I paid ~3 bucks for mine at a window shop

    Integrated sumps

I didn't leave enough clearance between the glass and the stone for the tubing, I had everything ready when I noticed the ugly tubing just hanging in front of the stone :( the stone is siliconed in place, so removing it might either break the stone or break the glass I'm thinking of getting a...

    Integrated sumps

Something like this?: I replaced the large bioballs with smaller ones and added a heater there. The only thing I didn't think before setting everything up is to have a hole drilled on the lower back corner to pass the air stone tubing

    DIY Hoods

Here's one of my lids, for that one I used 5050 LED modules in white and blue: https://www.amazon.com/Rextin%C2%AE-Bright-Waterproof-Decorative-Advertising/dp/B017OMPWRM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1477416061&sr=8-5 and one of these to change from white to blue...

    DIY Hoods

I use a router to cut a groove around the hood, I then slide a piece of glass into that groove, that way the lights are shielded from water. There is a rabbet cut also, to rest the hood on the tank's frame

    New tank

Looking for driftwood that'll look good, the pieces I borrowed were either too big or too small, some live plants and as far as stocking I'll be looking into tropical colorful fish, not yet sure. The rear cover is not yet complete, but it will hide the filter portion, lights (DIY LEDs) will get...

    Red 20 gal

Thanks! hopefully we can work out the shelves to replace it with the 29 gal one, then hopefully the 20 gal will fit where the 10 gal currently is, so 2 upgrades at once.
