    Moving my 40 gallon

So I'm getting ready to move from an apartment to our first house. I'm looking for advice on the best way to move my 40 gallon freshwater aquarium. I've successfully moved smaller aquariums in the past, but I'm a bit intimidated by this one since it is bigger, more water is involved, and I have...

    Snail infestation..Help!

Yeah I've looked at multiple local stores and never found any, so I'll probably call and ask to see if anywhere can get them. I'd never heard of the hydrogen peroxide dip before though, thanks! I'll definitely do that in the future. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    pH question

This is very similar to a previous thread about pH levels, except currently mine is at 8.2. Is the level still safe for my neon tetras and swordtails? A week ago we moved our tank along with 70% of the original water. We noticed after the move that our snails were beginning to die which we...

    Female swordtail problems

Update: She died while I was at class. Looking closer at her now, I can see that her gills on the left side were filled with blood. I'm guessing that's the cause of her death. How she got that way I have no idea.

    Female swordtail problems

1~ I have a female swordtail that hasn't really acted right since I got her. Had her for a little over two weeks. Until today she would constantly stay at the bottom, isolated, hardly moving, and wouldn't eat. Showed no signs of illness. Today, she is suddenly at the top of the tank, with her...

    Fishless cycling question

Update: I did the water change, waited a little over an hour, and then tested again. My ammonia is at 1ppm, nitrites are still off the chart, but seem lighter, nitrates went up and now are at around 40ppm, and my pH went back up to its normal of 7.6. So I'm guessing it worked?

    Fishless cycling question

My pH was at 7.6 until yesterday. Yesterday it tested at around 6.8. I'll try the water change since the nitrites have been off the chart for quite a long time.

    Fishless cycling question

So this is my first time doing a fishless cycle, so I'm not really sure what to expect. I've gotten to the point that my nitrites are really high, and there are some nitrates (5-10ppm), but the nitrates haven't grown for over 10 days. At the end of 24 hours my ammonia is around 0.25ppm, so I...
