    Pleco pooping white

I add the Geltek anti-parasite food to algae wafers. Add a few drops and allow it to soak in, then add a few more drops until you have done 8-10 per wafer. Should work the same for sinking pellets. Feed medicated food to the other fish at the same time.

Angle fins growing back or fin-rot?

Very clean water, Pimafix and Melafix are my fin-regrowth trifecta. They may not grow back to the same size or shape but the fish will be able to get around better.

    My big boesmani oops

If you are worried about acclimating you could mix the water from the two tanks. You can either take water out of your ten and replace it with water from the 75, repeat, repeat... or you could put him in a bucket with an airstone with his water, then slowly add water from the 75. Another...

Any tips/opinions on lawnmowers? Updated with pictures!

I prefer mowers with a blade-break clutch (toro calls it Blade Overide System-BOS). Only the blade stops when you release the handle instead of the engine dying. Very nice if you have to pick something up off of the lawn or empty the bag, or if you just hate pull-starting.

    Trane vs. Armstrong House AC?

My brother is an a/c tech and he says that Trane units are very reliable but expensive to fix if they do break down. He said that Lennox units are evil and like to bite.

    very strange!

Bulb plants often go into periods of dormancy or semi-dormancy.

gold gourami not eating with the group

Internal infections or parasites can cause lack of appetite. Try feeding medicated food and see if he improves. Does he have any other problems?

    Red Eye SwordTail Mollie

That doesn't look like a molly. It's a lyretail swordtail. Females will have similar extended fins but lack the large swords on the caudal fin. They can be difficult to breed because the male's gonopodium is elongated as well.

    American Flagfish

Two males will probably not get along, especially in half of a 10 gallon tank. You should consider replacing one with a female (or add 2-3 females). They are more territorial in smaller tanks so a heavily planted 75 would be a good home. In my experience, flagfish only pick on smaller fish.

    Glass barbs?

Glass Barbs are a variety of Rosy barbs that are less reflective, so you can see through them.

    Heater/Ich question

This is what happens if you don't check AA enough. (Hashbaz was looking for a different AA when he first stumbled across this site.) Orcus-my foam was 3 inches thick but that was probably overkill. I actually tied it on with some twine. I only insulated the sides and back but you could add a...

    Heater/Ich question

I insulated three sides of my tank with styrofoam when treating for ich. Smaller tanks have a higher surface area to volume ratio so they lose heat faster. I recommend a 75 or 100 watt for a 10 gal qt. Orcus...is your heater submersible? If so, place it horizontally so that the thermostat...

    Adding live plants?

The dual tube strip-lights are significantly wider than the single tube that comes with most hoods, so you will likely have to get a twin-tube glass canopy (for some reason the good doctors listing links you to the single width tops, but they do have the double-wides for sale). A simpler...

    Diagnosis Please?

Extra water changes, melafix and pimafix. QT if possible. Rearranging the tank to disrupt old territories may reduce aggression.

    Tuberculosis? **Update**

TB is mostly spread by cannibalism, so unless you suspect they will die soon, removal is not necessary. Try levamisole for the possibility of intestinal parasites like camallanus. If that doesn't help, try Gel-tek tetracycline medicated gel food by aquarium products. You may have to mix it...

    White Spots Not Ich ?????

If it is ich, give it time. The fact that it hasn't spread means that it is working. Are these glass fish like this (the variety that are often injected with dye) or glass cats like this ? The reason I ask is that the other, less hopeful assessment, is that if it is not ich, it could...

    Getting Desperate.... Please help!!

It could be a water problem. Even though your readings are normal, there could be something else in the water. Try several 30-50% water changes with water from a different supply (Maybe a friend/relative in the next city over?).

    Pimafix question

Melafix and pimafix will give you lots of surface bubbles because they use a surfactant (natural soap) to make the organic oils soluble in the water. I have never had a problem with melafix and pimafix with cories. Many "fungal" infections are actually bacterial. Jungle makes medicated food...

    EEK! Two sick fish! HELP!

The platy likely has intestinal parasites or a bacterial infection. Medicated food is your best bet. Jungle labs makes medicated pellets, and aquarium products makes a gel food, but some picky eaters will ignore it unless mixed with something else.

    Another Ick question

Try another thermometer in the qt. 2 degrees is the difference between an ich bonanza and a wiping them out. I always crank up to 88 to be safe.

Trapped Under Rock - Lost Tail

Clean water, melafix and pimafix are my fin regrowth trifecta. QT would be advisable as well and makes for easier repeated pwc to keep water pristine.

    Plecos for Algae?

Rubber Nose Pl*cos are Bulldog pl*cos, not Pitbulls. Pitbull (Parotocinclus jumbo) and Bulldog (Chaetostomus milesi) are both small pl*cos, but pitbulls are definitely the lightweight (and cute to boot!). Do not get a bulldog/rubbernose for an acrylic tank. They will rasp it into a fog very...

    Rescue Guppy

Clean water, melafix and pimafix. The trifecta of fin healing. It may not grow back if it has already scarred over or was damagaed at the base but I had a guppy that lost most of his tail twice and it grew back.

Which flake is the best, or among the best?

My cories started swimming to the top to eat when I started feeding nls pellets. I had been using omega one almost exclusively until I had a fish die from swallowing one of the many bone shards that it contains. If you can check all the flakes before you feed then go ahead. I still use other...
