As far as sand I would have to say it may look great on the beach but it doesn't look so great in the tank at least not half as good as the sand you buy and definately not as good as it looks dry on the beach

I used to get a [moderator edit] of anemones and crabs and snails and shrimp and god knows what eelse for my florida coastal tank out of ponce inlet just south of daytona when I lived there. 5 gallon hex tank useable?

I can agree. The possibilities opened even from five to ten gallons are decent incentive with out digging too much deeper into the pocket. Not to mention when you want to upgrade you can just use the ten gallon as a sump like I did lol

    5 gallon hex tank useable?

Usually disagreed with, but I have always felt that starting with a very small tank and then graduating to a large one is better than big to small. This is because not much money is wasted if one fails time and time again but you learn quickly the practices and problems with saltwater. Not to...

    Lighting question

I could probably start a new thread but because it was already mentioned, speaking of yellowish, I noticed when I switched from the coralife bulbs to two geissman true actinics and two 10000k zoomeds my tank got a little yelowish in comparison which bulbs are causing the. The actinics or the day...

    5 gallon hex tank useable?

So unimaginative. Lol sooo many type of inverts and everyone always looks at them as just cleaners. You could do a great shrimp Pico or a crab with LR and some snails or just do a cleaner shrimp, three or four turbos, five or so hermits and softies. I know its normally called a fish tank but you...

Thanks grizz for the insight on saratoga lfs's. The navy might be sending me to the prototype up there and the tank move from here will be stressful enough so at least I know I have that to look forward to in the way of aquariums that is

    fuge substrate

I understand. That was pretty much my whole question, should I have a substrate or not and what is the general opinion on a type
  14. blueandgoldaquarium

    fuge substrate

I definately agree my main thought was that I have a thirty long so six gallons proportionally is like having a twenty five gallon fuge section on a hundred gallon tank so even though its small it seems like it would definately have an impact

    fuge substrate

Well that was a pleasant read I can almost taste the aggression. Its wonderfully informative. Its a very small fuge 6 or so gallons in my sump so how much miracle mud would I need and for such a small piece of real estate is it worth it?
