Glofish Fry - 10 days old

I had to sacrifice a tank full of fry to find out... It's HARD to get it all out once you put it in, one time's worth of pH Down buffers for like 10 water changes!

Glofish Fry - 10 days old

Funny yet sad story is... See, I originally bred a Red and Green, and at the age of just 2 days old I killed them... How? After a water change, I notice the pH rises to an "alarming" 7.8, and so I throw a spoon of pH Down, and 2 hours later, all dead. After a water change or 2, I give it another...

Glofish Fry - 10 days old

    1. Tank size: 2.5 gallons (It was the only one I had left...) 2. Temperature: 78F 3. pH: 6.8, GH: ? 4. Conditioning: Tons of freeze dried brine shrimp, freeze dried bloodworms (they dont seem to enjoy the frozen foods, might be too big) 5. Fishes activity prior to spawning: Chasing...

Glofish Fry - 10 days old

Last time I read, it was only illegal to sell, and supposedly only permissible to breed for educational purposes.

Glofish Fry - 10 days old

Everyone said that these guys are super sensitive to things like ammonia... I had the level at 0.05 ppm for 2 days (unintentionally) and they were still fine... Otherwise, I seem to be quite lucky, as this is my first time breeding them.

Heaven has answered my call! Danio Fry

Seems like some eggs survived the pH swing. After changing 50% of the water, I notice these guys in my tank a few days later: Video: YouTube - ‪Glofish Fry (Zebra Danios)‬‏

    Glofish color variations

Interestingly, my red and green ones have produced at least one with mixed colors. Take a look at the bottom fry:

    Free Swimming Danio Fry Question

I was wondering, other than the fact that free swimming fry swim (obviously), should Zebra Danio fry have little pouches under them when they're free swimming? I notice that both of these fry swim in a darting motion occasionally, but then stick to the wall sometimes.

When a Zebra Danio's partner dies..

Does that mean that it will never breed again? I hear that they select a partner for life.

If I see red growing in my infusoria culture...

Does this mean that infusoria is growing? Check this out:

    Glofish: dyed or not?

I'm assuming that the green stuff is a pigment of some sort. And interestingly, it made my water slightly green for a while, until the filter got it all. None of my fish have been affected in any way yet though.

    Glofish: dyed or not?

Interestingly, when I came home, I noticed that one of my Green glofish died. I noticed a snail munching on it, and I saw what appeared to be some sort of greenish dye being released as it was being eaten. Is the fluorescence produced by production of fluorescent coloring pigments in the fish...

    Biggest mistake ever

Yeah. I'm too used to keeping hardy fish. My danios could easily take a massive swing in pH with no problems at all.

    Biggest mistake ever

Sadly, my tap water from where I come from has an alkalinity that could make someone mistake it for bleach, so I must use PH down often. After changing adding some aged and chlorine treated water (I assumed the PH would be normal after this), I notice that the PH jumps from 6.8 to 7.8. What...
