I have three tanks and two of them have the Aqueon Pro's in them. So far I have had no issues with them. They are accurate and keep a constant temp. I like the fact that they are shatter proof and I like the lighting. I can look and see quite easily when they are heating and when they are idle...
Mine seem to do okay after they get a little over a 1/4". They still get chased but it is only for a little bit and then the big fish give up. I put some grass in for them to hide and the tank is well planted but other than that I just let them go. If not you will be overrun with fish in a...
I have the brown stuff in my newly cycled tank. I knew it would go away eventually but I had heard Oto's would clean it up and I thought it would be a great way to get some more fish. Man what a difference. In a week just about everything has been cleaned. They went to town on the stuff and have...
Here is my observations for what it's worth. I haven't been doing this long. About six months. I use an Aqueon water changer. Same thing as the Python. I use the same method as others. Remove the water, add the Prime and fill it back up. Turn the filters on and I am done.
My fish don't run and...
Petsmart sells the Aquaclear filters in the stores but you won't be changing out the filters. You just rinse in tank water when they get dirty and reuse them. You only replace them when they are falling apart.
What are you adding to the water going into the tank? I couldn't tell from you post if you are adding water conditioner or bio supplement. I hope you are adding water conditioner.
I am sure they would be fine. I use frozen and thaw them in tank water. I don't know if you know this but you have to cut open the outer shell and take out the two little pods. I cut those in half or smash them up and put those in the tank. But I am sure what you have will be fine.
Mine won't eat the algae wafers nor cucumber. But they love zucchini and will perch on it as long as it is in the water. My lfs had veggie clips that either suction cup to the tank or they will sink. I just let them sink and the Pleco's find them pretty quickly. I cut up the zucchini in 1/4 inch...
I have done it both ways. Neither way is faster than the other. What is different is the amount of work involved. With an in fish cycle it is testing every day and doing pwc's all the time. Sometimes multiple times a day. It is a lot of work if you want to keep your fish healthy and alive...
I also did the same thing. Used ammonia with surfactant. After doing some searching I found several people who had done the same thing but still had success. So I finished out the cycle and did a huge water change. I have had fish in it for over a week with no losses.
I am very sorry for my misinformation. I saw the 30" bulbs that Coralife sells and assumed that the 30" fixtures took the 30" bulbs. I didn't realize that most of the 30" fixtures took 24" bulbs. I apologize.
Actually if it is aT5 or T5HO then most 30 inch fixtures have 30 inch bulbs. I guess they decided that T5 was being used mostly for aquariums so they decided to make the bulb length the same as most popular aquarium sizes.
The reason for the low and high is because each bottle tests a certain range. If I use the low PH bottle my test will be off the charts so for me I have to test using the high PH range.
I don't try to lower my PH. I just research the fish I want and go from there. Most fish can adapt.
I have the 18-24 inch double led and found it very inadequate. It came with my 27 gallon cube tank. I was very disappointed. There is no way it would grow anything but low light plants and my fish looked like they were always swimming in the shadows.
I ended up getting an Aquatic Life T5HO...
I have some Platy's like that and thought the same thing. After looking on the net and other places i came to realize that was just the way their markings were.
Yep, bought a 40 gallon breeder yesterday for my sons bearded dragon for $40. Can't beat that. You may have to go to several before you find what you are looking for. They have been hit pretty hard.
