    Nice to meet you!

Some people feed their fish twice every day (sometimes more) and others only feed every second day. Personally, I prefer feeding 5-6 times a week. As for stocking, I recommend 2-3 more tetras as they like to shoal together and generally are more stress-free in groups of 6 or more. But only add...

    Bristlenose Plecos

Lol even living in Aus we still need heaters :P and yeah temp-wise I have always had the heaters set to 26*Celsius (highest recommended to keep BN plecs in) so when I finally get my large(ish) breeding tank I will lower the temp to about 24 and see what happens.... after a couple of weeks of...

    Bristlenose Plecos

G'day all, Pretty soon, I intend to start breeding Bristlenose Plecs to turn a buck and for the thrill of being a breeder of such a wonderful fish. I just would like help on how to condition males and females for breeding and how to trigger it, I have been researching the topic alot (and I mean...

    clown loach

And just be wary of any other clown loaches that you may buy as clown loaches are very susceptible to "skinny disease". And crypto is right, they do grow to about a foot long, most Fish stores sell you clown loaches without advising you of how big they can get and how big of a tank they need to...

    clown loach

like how is it shaped? is his stomach like a curve inward to the rest of it's body or is it a little plump?

    clown loach

Haha, that's what I was worried about when I first started keepin them too! Nothing to worry about, they are named clown loaches for more than just their appearance! They lie around sometimes looking as if they are resting, usually just because they can. yesterday I found my clown loach under a...

    Nice to meet you!

Larger tanks = easier to cycle, care for and maintain water quality anything below 10 gallons often will not cycle and have enough beneficial bacteria to be stable. If you are new to any type of aquarium (salt water/freshwater tropical/brackish) it is always best to start with a large aquarium...

    Hey guys

He seems to do alright lol, he chills out with my silver dollars(strange, I know, I didn't think silver dollars tolerated bite-sized friends). I have been looking to get him some friends, but my LFS hasn't had them since I first got him. So I'm still on the look-out for some.

    common plec - 2 in a tank

Ok, well any chasing behaviour isn't really something to be too concerned about at that size as they are still juveniles. I wouldn't give them back until they are a fair bit bigger, currently I have 2 fully grown (11.5 cm) Bristlenose plecs in a 30L aquarium and they like it fine and about a...

    common plec - 2 in a tank

Thought about upgrading to a larger tank? Larger tanks are easier to maintain water quality and you can have more fish without a hitch. What size are the Plecs? and how long have you had them?

    common plec - 2 in a tank

They look like longfin Bristlenose Plecs. Beautiful fish :P They only grow to around 13 cms max and they live for a good 12 years, what are their sexes? if they are both male it may be a territory dispute, seeing as a 40L aquarium is quite small, if they are both female it wouldnt be anything...

    Bristlenose Plecostomus Profile

I have been keeping Bristlenose Plecos for just over 3 years now and have had no trouble with them, they are an extremely hardy fish and don't need much to live, just some driftwood or bogwood for their digestive system and a small amount of food. They are mainly nocturnal fish and usually only...

    Hey guys

OK lol, that's about the size they should be sold, I though you meant less than 1 inch and was a bit worried for a sec lol. One of my LFSs sold me an albino BN that was just over half an inch when I was only starting out with fish keeping without any warning and the poor little fellow died a few...

    Hey guys

Thanks for the welcome guys. absolutangel : what size is he? last time I bought a baby albino BN he didn't last too long because the LFS sold him too early and I was too inexperienced to know any better. Some LFS's are a bit unscrupulous when selling their fish and just want to make a quick buck.

    Hey guys

Hello all, Just thought that I might as well introduce myself seeing as I'll be using this site a fair amount by the looks of it. :) I have been keeping tropical freshwater fish for about 3 years now and I am about to start a new journey as a breeder, and I joined this site so I can do it right...
