    Guppy problem

You have 0 nitrates? This could be an indicator your tank isn't fully cycled. Are you using a liquid test kit?

    Massive die in 60gallon

What are the parameters of the tank? (Ammo/nirtrite/nitrate) is it possible something has gotten into the water?

You know you're an aquarist if...(just for fun)

Your two year old tries to get the fish to play his new game on your smart phone, and the fish gather around cause they know kid= feeding time :) You invented a specific shaky shaky song to shake up the nitrate bottle, and sing it even when your kid isn't around

You know you're an aquarist if...(just for fun)

When every night you lay down to go to sleep, you think of how you would arrange a new tank and end up awake for hours planning the perfect placement of everything.

Putting my foot down.....with a bride to be :(

I think if I can't convince her to not do it at all i'll try them in the tank, if that doesn't work i'll talk to my lfs see if they'll adopt them. I did try slapping her in the head, you know the "mark harmon", didn't seem to knock any sense into her though.

Putting my foot down.....with a bride to be :(

I think we're looking at 7 bettas, I recently bought a 125g, the occupants will be: 1 irridecent shark 1 silver dollar 3 rosy tetras (mistaken identity on my bfs part) 3 roberti/ornate tetras 2 cherry barbs 4 aggassizzi (sp?) Cory cats 1 pleco 5 madagascar rainbow fish (maybe) Could I still add...

Putting my foot down.....with a bride to be :(

I don't like the idea of "borrowing" them either. I want her to have what she wants on "her day", but not at the expense of living things. Does anyone have any info on female bettas in a community tank?

But then where would they go afterwards? I can't have anymore tanks, maybe if they were all female bettas could they go in my tank? I still am worried about the sunflowers.

Putting my foot down.....with a bride to be :(

My sister is getting married and her idea for a center piece is, a small vase/bowl with a sunflower in it, rocks at the bottom, and a betta or goldfish?!?!? Of course the fish lover in me burst out and voiced my opinion. So now I am way too eccentric and why did I have to ruin everything? Maybe...

    new/used tank-cleaning out left over water/chlorine scum

Marineland actually makes aquarium silicone, you can pick it up at your lfs I don't know about the stuff at home depot. Just a warning that stuff smells god awful. We just had to replace the plastic trim/bracing on our tank and let me tell you went straight past contact high right to headache.

    Putting hands in tank

I guess everyone is different, but seeing as how I am a smoker, I always scrub my hands and fingernails before putting them in the the tank or feeding my fish. Afterwards I just wash however much skin went into the water. Someone once told me bar soap has no sulfates (or sulfites?) so it rinses...

    125g cycle and some ?

I am so brain dead some days I swear, I can just run the new filter on my 55g until I get the 125 set up duh!

    125g cycle and some ?

I heard a plastic putty knife works to scrape the algae, I'll probably end up using a mild bleach solution to clean/disinfect the tank. My biggest thing is I am putting my old hob filter on and adding a new one, I dunno if this would be an instantly cycled tank or not.

    not sure what is wrong

Is the tank cycled? Did you recently add any new fish? Is the tank freshwater or brackish?

    Cichlid Flashing

You used 5 tablespoons per gallon? Are there any white spots on the fish, or anythiing noticeable that would make it scratch?

    Never Ending Fish/Cycle

You're doing fish in cycles? They can take longer than fishless because you have to keep the toxins down low enough not to hurt the fish. Also what kind of test kits are you using IMO/E the strips are very inaccurate, its best to go with the API master test kit. If you are showing nitrates your...

    125g cycle and some ?

So I just purchased a used 125g tank, the guy emptied it today and it has quite a bit of algae and used for salt water. My questions are: How do I clean up the algae good? Is there anything special I need to clean it with since it was used for saltwater? I am upgrading my 55g, transferring over...
