i tied my anubais to driftwood with cotton. it was not that easy in the tank but with a little patience i got it attached. does anyone know how long it takes the rhizomes to take hold?

the bonzi leaves look about half the size of the regular anubias but its early days. i will see when they grow out a little.

Oh I nearly forgot, I added some anubis nana bonsi to the drift wood and slate today too

found it this morning near the bottom of the tank its very lethargic and has a very think layer of slime on its body starting just behind its head ive pulled it from the tank but now im unsure what is wrong please help water parameters are all ok and no other fish seem to be effected

I would strip the old silicone if it does need resealing. I was looking at this myself and every thing I read insists on removing old seals completely, maybe just a liability thing from the silicone manufacture. But better safe than sorry 55g is a lot of water to clean up off the floor

Thanx rozdab. I'm happy with it for a 1st attempt. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I started but I think it turned out ok. One last tip that a friend passed to me. When building, once you pick up a piece of slate, use it It stops the structure from looking too uniform like a brick wall.

Yep just give it a clean, boil it up to kill any nasties in there and your good to go

I used blue mountain slate (thats what it says on the bag anyway) but any landscape/chipped slate would work as its not treated with any chems. I read somewhere that slate used for roofs can sometimes be treated with chemicals that are toxic. Give this stuff a miss unless your sure its...

The barbs were a suggestion from a guy I work with he has some in with his angels and they get along fine. (there is always an exception to the rule and not all fish are the same.) that being said I don't think ill risk it I've become quite fond of my corys. So back to the original plan of rams...

Total cost of slate and silicone about £10 and I have loads of slate and about a third of a tube of silicone left. Gunna start someting for my other tanks soon

Update.. I've finished the hardscape now ready for some new editions. Currently in the tank I have 12 leopard danios 6 albino corys The danios keep mostly to the top of the tank and the corys have the bottom. But the tank is tall and I'm looking to fill the middle. I've been looking at tiger...

Thank you guys. The corys love the new lay out there is also a nice sized cave under the driftwood.... Just need to get the rams now.

So hopefully I will be putting everything in the tank this evening. The new slate hardscape should free up some driftwood that is already in there for my other tank. I'll post the pics when I'm done.
