What Made You Want A Freshwater Aquarium?

In the fifth grade, my science teacher required us to do a science project every quarter. My idea, at the beginning of the year, was to buy a newt to do all my experimentation (observational) on. The setup, complete with a newt, was $100. My mom, who was afraid of anything with legs, wasn't for...

    Clown knife fish

This is him yesterday He jumped last night and was found dead on the floor this morning In hindsight, rocks on the glass hood should have been a must. I've never kept fish this big before and didn't know. Still, I'm curious as to what he would have needed had he not jumped. Sent from my...

    Clown knife fish

I've recently found myself the owner of a 15 inch clown knife fish, along with a trio of jack dempseys in a newly acquired 75 gallon aquarium. My question is, how often do I feed him/her? What do I feed him/her? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, as though I've bred plenty of...

Why are keyhole cichlids so awkward?

The only place I've ever found them is online (I plan to get 6 from a breeder on aquabid and let them pair) And I suppose I also plan to get a set of healthy keyholes also off aquabid sometime in the near future Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

Why are keyhole cichlids so awkward?

Ah okay that makes sense. At the moment my 55 gallon is full of juvie cichlids but my plan is to keep the keyholes in there again with some yellow convicts (Cryptoheros nanoluteus), and maybe some gbrs. The pair is in the 29 with the angels, and the third male is in a 10 gallon. I'll move them...

Why are keyhole cichlids so awkward?

Wow those are gorgeous! They also seem a fair amount bigger than my keyholes. And they must be super eaters if they compete with bolivian rams, which can be very aggressive (territorial) eaters. Have you ever bred them?

Why are keyhole cichlids so awkward?

Over the time I've had them they've been in all four of my tanks with varying numbers and species of other tankmates and fellow keyholes. Right now the pair's in a 29 gallon with about 15 dime to quarter size angels, averaging at nickels, and 6 neon tetras. It's not too densely planted, but it's...

Why are keyhole cichlids so awkward?

Maybe it's just mine but I've noticed that keyhole cichlids are really really awkward, both as far as cichlids are concerned and fish in general. At the moment I have three keyholes, a male female pair and another male cichlid. I've had them for over a year, the female and the lone male I've had...

    Help my Keyholes!!!

I used the Pimafix starting on Sunday, but unfortunately I still lost the keyhole... Guess it was just her time. The male gbr is still alive, however, so I'll continue with the treatment, jic Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Help my Keyholes!!!

Pimafix, will do. Do you know if it is plant and invertebrate safe? I also have some young redbreast acaras in there and I want to be safe and treat the tank like you said. Perhaps this means it isn't too late for the male gbr, after all? Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Help my Keyholes!!!

My 55 gallon tank is in turmoil. Well, not really, but at the same time, really. The facts: over the past three days, I've lost a female gbr and a female swordtail. The male gbr is showing the same symptoms as the female did, and if predict his death. Things to note: a male kribensis cichlid in...

    Dwarf flag cichlids (laetacara dorsigera)

It just so happens that I have all of the aforementioned species, and I agree with you wholeheartedly. That being said, would I be better off keeping them with dwarfs that could hold their own, such as kribs? Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice
