Id probably have something lower at around 75-100w. It also depends how cold your home/room gets with the aquarium in it

Wow lucky find! I love Craigslist for that sort of stuff. Marineland is a good company. I have a lot of their biowheel filters that are (kinda loud) but do a great job. Im not too sure about that filter. I was looking at one a while ago and I'm sure it should do fine. Itll be worth trying...

Distilled water can be used as well. I only have a small tank so I did not want to buy an ro/di unit. Nor do I have the space for one. I think you do not need to change out all your water but thats just my opinion
