    Can turtles get fish infections

Hey guys, a friend of mine has a bunch of zebra fish that are in a lab right now but there are no experiments to do, so they're giving them away. I feel really bad for them so I want to take them home and put them in with my turtle. They used to have septicemia (cured now) but I was wondering if...

    Looking for bold fish

If you want inverts, triggers and puffers are 100% out of the question. Some people claim their's are peaceful, but it is extremely rare. My huma huma trigger annihilated about 15 snails I put in the tank within 5 minutes (the snails were stuck to the rocks and he ripped them off). Naso tangs...

    Grrr, Persistant Green Hair Algae

Hard purple algae sounds like coralline.... Idk if that what you're talking about but it sounds like it. Most people want it actually. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Single fish for 55 gallon

I completely misunderstood the common sense. I thought you were saying it as a "you're wrong and what you're saying makes no sense." Lol. Yes I agree experience teaches us the most. And also agree that the best bet for the OP would be a school of small fish or a lion/eel combo. That signature is...

    Brown algae issue

It's also a pain to drive and fill buckets up. You can get a good unit for under $100 on eBay. Much more convenient if you make it at home. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Single fish for 55 gallon

For schooling fish I would have to agree with cardinal fish. Bangii cardinals are my favorite and are absolutely gorgeous. Also I'm not sure what you mean by "some common sense" lol. A groupers or triggers not gonna work in a 55, that's common sense. :P Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Brown algae issue

All algae is basically a result of excess nutrients (nitrates+phosphates). To get rid of it, you need to fix the nutrient problem. When you test for nitrates and phosphates and algae is present, they may read 0 because the algae binds them. However, by lowering them, you'll starve the algae and...

    Single fish for 55 gallon

Groupers that are commonly available usually need like 200 gallons. Honeycombs, which are one of the smallest you can get need at least a 125 IMO. All triggers are basically 125+ as well. Tangs and butterflies need 125 min... They tend to swim a lot. If you want the biggest fish that would be a...

To answer your question, yes I have kept volitans. I've seen plenty that are far larger than 8" as well. You should always try to stock your tank with fish that can live in it their entire life unless you can GUARANTEE an upgrade, which he didn't mention. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    New to saltwater

Yep old water doesn't matter. Just keep the fish in enough to survive the trip and keep the rock submerged so the bacteria doesn't die. 99% of bacteria is on the rock and sand, but you shouldn't keep the sand because some nasty stuff can be in there. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    New to saltwater

Good buy! RODI units are super useful. And also, you can easily have glass or acrylic cut and silicone the baffles into a regular tank to make a sump. Much less expensive than a commercial one and you can customize it however you like. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Single fish for 55 gallon

NO WAY you could keep 1 volitan let alone 2 in a 55. No way. They can get like 15" long which is longer than the tank is wide. Do NOT do that. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Single fish for 55 gallon

Snowflake and a dwarf/radiata/antenatta would be awesome! Just make sure you have a decent amount of rocks and caves for the eel to hide in! Also descent filtration because they're both pretty messy eaters :). Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Grrr, Persistant Green Hair Algae

The truth is if there's algae there are nitrates and phosphates. They're reading 0 or close to it because they're bound in the algae. They are the algae's nutrients. No nitrates/phosphates=no algae. Maybe they were 0 before, and when they started to rise the algae grew so it appeared that they...

    Grrr, Persistant Green Hair Algae

It's not good to buy things to get rid if algae. It's ok for them to help but you should get to the source of the problem. Your nitrates/phosphates are high. You should try to fix that. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Small fish with a lion isn't going to end well. Like the others suggested above I would recommend a radiata or antenatta lion. Really cool fish and won't get too big. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    New to saltwater

With a 72 you're not going to be able to keep any large predators. You will be able to keep some cool little fish though. I'm would recommend stocking the tank with reef safe fish just incase you eventually want to add some coral/inverts. Good luck to you. Ask every question you have. It's much...

    New algae blenny

In my experience my trigger hasn't picked on any corals. However, they're not considered reef safe because they can and will destroy any inverts in the tank. Snails, hermits, etc. gone. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice
