I had a HUGE Ich outbreak that took all but 2 fish. After adding the UV Ster, I can now add fish without their demise. I no longer see any signs of Ich on any of my fish.

IME coraline algae grows on the tank first over growing on the rocks. I dose a 2part cal+alk to keep its growth up. Its finally getting somewhere!! :mrgreen:

Thanks for the ID, is the repanda's tenticles even shorter than the other ones? I googled the repanda and it seems as though the tenticles are one of the shortest I've seen on any Fungia.

Okay, now that we know its a fungia, where should it be placed? I am running a barebottom system so I have no sand, will the rocks be okay or will it eventually die?

I just caught my lion eating a small Asterina star!! WOW what a sight! So far my lion has taken down 3 shrimps with 2 remaining but has never tried to eat a coral yet. Actually he has taken strikes at my sun polyp when I am feeding it...he better not nip off one of those bright yellow polyps...

Are you asking because you want one or just to know if anyone has one? If you're interested in one, I'll definitely suggest it. One of my favorite fish and guests love how it swims too!

Do not place the tank in front of a window or least don't let any sunlight shine through into the tank. This is fuel for algae to grow and probably won't help corals any more than a lighting system. You can afford a MH system for only around 275 (pendant) or even under 200 (DIY retrofit)...

Do you have any crabs? I have an emerald crab that has been nipping at the tentacles of my GSP. I wanna kill him...that coral cost me a lot of money!

Oh yea, I would like to add that I have 3 shrimps, 25 hermits, a black Brittle Star, and an Emerald Crab...looks like they don't do a good job at cleaning it out.

I use Tetra carbon and it only lasts about a week. I ran the carbon to get rid of "green water" and it did starting the 2nd day but at the end of the week (roughly 8 days) the green water came back. Either my carbon was crappy or it absorbed A LOT of algae and became uneffective afterwards. I...
