Ok I have my aqua medic 5000 twin up and running and it is huge it has two aqua medic 3500 ocean pumps just to create the bubbles the collection cup is bigger than my head it adds 15 gallons to my overall water which can only be a good thing and as you can never over filter I'm very happy with...

The carbon will only last about a month before it starts to put bad stuff back in the tank you could change it for more carbon or as you said swap it all together
