    question on a protein skimmer

    Hi If a protein skimmer is for use in a sump set up or in other words supposed to be in with a sump setup, can it also be used inside a tank also. I was thinking about buying one that is 13"H x 3.5"D and it would be on a tall 55 gal tank. I dont' have a sump setup at all or a wet/dry filter...
