My advice is don't let it dry, try to get as much stuff off as soon as you can. IME once it dries on its way harder to get off.

IMO if you dont like damsels that much get rid of em. you could go for a dwarf angel of some kind, i like the coral beauty or half black alot. they should be fine in your reef

My only thoughts are if you want to try and keep them alive and raise them to start reading Alot, from what little ive read it is a ton of work to raise clown fry

I think that looms like a good choice of fish. Really the only fish that give me flags are the angel and gourami. But we have a tank with them and all is well

From my experience i have started to like the fake stuff more. Once i got real plants i needed more light, then wanted CO2, then wanted ferts. it just seemed to add up and made more work for me and my wallet. just my opinion, but real plants do provide a look that fake ones just cant match
