I have PM'd you but will copy it here in case anyone knows better or can add anything:

    look what i found today!

Or they may have been moved, the parents will do this with the good eggs. Keep an eye on them and see if they are guarding anything otherwise better look next time!

    Found angel fish eggs today.

Tan is right, if they aren't white after three or so days then they are probably ok. And it isn't unusual for a lot to turn white amongst good eggs. The parents should pick at them to stop the fungus spreading. Well depends on conditions of the tank but yeah, every week to two weeks is the...

    Found angel fish eggs today.

That is true about the white eggs. You may have two females or best scenario you have a male which is 'learning'. They will spawn every week to two weeks so let them have a practice or two and see if he fertilises the eggs. If not after five or so attempts then I would lean towards you having...

    Went fishing for fry!

I have just had a swordtail develop its sword and male organs and it was about four month old. And to answer your question about in/cross breeding. In breeding is fine for four or five generations, cross breeding between the swordtails and platys is possible as they are both xiphophorus. A lot...

    angel fry

Oops well I have put the wigglers in with them. They have only been free swimming a week but are already two or three times the size. Will have to wait and see but so far they haven't bothered them, they may be outcompete when it comes to meal times! Anyway, nice fry you have there, can't beat...

    angel fry

Sorry to hijack this, but does anyone know what will happen if I put my batch of wigglers in with their 10 day old siblings? It is just I have ran out of space in my fry tanks so it's either let them be eaten or put them in with the youngest angels!?

    Altum angel fish breeding

So they are six month old now and are almost as big as my breeding pairs. They have turned out really nice and are still getting better colours each day and more prominent darker lines. At first I thought they were Altum X's and then I thought they were pure Manacapuru red backs, which I...

    How to breed angelfish

It's hard to tell whether they are male or female or not and they dont usually breed until they are about 10 month plus old. The best way to start would be to buy an already established pair!

    How to breed angelfish

The hardest part is getting a pair. How far are you into this, like do you have a pair? Young angels fresh from the shop?

    Pregnant guppy

About a week or so I think, but it is really hard to predict if they aren't your own fish and you don't watch them often. In a couple of months you will be an expert! I'd say both the blue and yellow possibly 7 or 8 days. And the red one two week. Just a guess mind!

    Swordtail MM

Swordtails aren't actually platys. Though they have probably all been cross bred to produce the MM swordtail that you have. One is xiphophorus maculatus and one is xiphophorus helleri.

    Pregnant guppy

They usually give birth once every four to five week. If it looks like picture two then it shouldn't be far off dropping, just keep an eye on her and when she starts hiding away or eating less then she will be about due to drop.

    Angel free swimmers

Hey Andy, I had some success with the brine shrimp in the end with multiple bottles like you said, so thanks, got about 30-40 nice big fry! I would like to know what you would do in my situation now though because, as mentioned in my first post this thread, the parents have laid again (see...

    Angel free swimmers

What I should have said was I have just added the eggs to salt solution today and they should be hatched ready for tomorrow. I will use them up over two or three feeds tomorrow and start a new second bottle ready for Sunday's feeds. I will continue to use the liquifry stuff as well and look into...

    Angel free swimmers

Some good info there thanks. I am hatching a new batch of BBS now ready for tomorrow and in the mean time I have been trying to feed them frozen cyclops (the smallest thing my LFS had) and I have bought some liquifry no2 for egg layers and started adding some drops to stimulate infusoria growth...

    Angel free swimmers

Thanks, that has relaxed me a little. I have been feeding them brine shrimp (24 hours after adding the eggs to the solution) and I have been adding spirulina to the solution to ensure that the BBS are still nutritious. I'm not sure that the fry are eating the BBS though, I watch the BBS wiggle...

HELP FAST. Angel eggs in community tank.

They should turn an almost orange/pale peach kind of colour if they are fertilised. If not they will turn White and die. The parents will shift them around the tank if they are good or eat them of they are bad. They will almost certainly get preyed upon if not kept separate from other fish but...

    how do guppies breed?

The 'just add water' bit was in reference to how they breed. They have a reputation for being very active in the reproduction department!

    how do guppies breed?

If it is sold as a lyre tail and has the two swordlike fins there's a very high chance it is male as the males mostly display the tail whereas the females will just keep the colours. Usually.

    Angel free swimmers

So I have angel fish fry now which are roughly a day or two off free swimming. I have a BBS hatchery ready, etc. I am planning on leaving the fry with the parents this time due to space issues in other tanks (which will be sorted in a month or so). As I usually split the fry from the parents I...

    odd fish behavior

Do you have males in the tank? She may be assuming the role of a male if you don't.
  24. Aron

    odd fish behavior

Sounds like they are trying to breed. Often livebearers like guppies, mollies and platys will not understand that they are actually different species and will try and interbreed regardless! Don't worry too much just make sure your new platy doesn't get harassed all the time and gets some rest.

    Breeding angel fish

Just putting my bit in 'cos I didn't see it mentioned yet, pH should be as close to 6.5 as possible for them to spawn. Also, I'd let the parents raise the fry from eggs the first few times because artificially hatching can be a right pain. Only go to this option if you have no luck with your...
