    20 gallon reef update

No problem! :thumb: I actually had a few of the same questions I've been researching up regarding a sump. I don't have a sump on this tank. But I was looking into doing a HOB overflow and a 10 gallon under the stand. I have seen the PVC designs and they do look sketchy but I think if you do...

    20 gallon reef update

Had to move the rocks around to get some more spots for corals. I also added another light. (Testing to see if it'll be too intense for the corals) But all is going well and almost all my hair algae is gone! :) and I'm starting to see a lot more coral growth. Sent from my VS980 4G using...

    Changing Filter ?

In saltwater you'll read that there is no need for a filter in many tanks! It's pretty cool to learn about. :) Your live rock will be your main filter pretty much, that's what it comes down to. So for a tank of your size you probably wont use that filter unless you add something like chemi-pure...

    10 gallon nano-reef coming together

The only bottle "booster" I will say actually works and works very well! Is Special Blend! I absolutely love the stuff and I make sure I use it in all my tanks. It will get your cycle going and over pretty quickly with the good bacteria that you need. You can pick it up at a store like PETCO...

    I <3 my Nano Tank

Very true. My clown attacks me as well! I know its coming every time I put my hand in the tank, but he's sneaky about it and will wait until I'm not expecting it then attack! He's a true ninja. But he knows when to be nice when feeding time comes around... -.-

    Favia Coral Question

Hey everyone, I wasn't sure where to post this but I have a question regarding my Favia coral. A few weeks ago my Favia started to have its tentacles out during the day. And has done so ever since. Is this a good thing? bad? I've only read that they come out at night for feeding but...

    Rio nano skimmer

I know this isn't a answer to your question but.... I was about to buy a rio skimmer, if I'm thinking correctly its the hang on back that looks like a filter. I read a lot of confusing reviews so I didn't end up getting it. I know it's a really good price but for I think a few bucks more I...

    Refugium

I have a 20 gallon reef tank and a few months ago I had this question myself. I did some research and found a Hang on back breeding box that I use for my refugium. Is got some compartments to separate your media or chaeto (which I have). I have a lamp over it to grow the chaeto and it works...

    Hitchhiker crab??

It does look like a emerald crab I would say. Very cool that you just found him after a year! lol If it is an emerald crab; they are a great addition. I have 2 and they are fun to watch at night cleaning up algae (since they tend to hide a lot). Just remember they molt at times, so you may...

    20 gallon reef update

Hey everyone, Its been awhile since I've been on the site and wanted to give some people an update on my first 20 gallon reef set up that started about a year ago. Lets say it's been a rough and good learning experience the entire away lol. But so much fun I can't ever give up! I love my tank...

    New to Co2 systems

The best way in my experience is to have your Co2 system on a timer with your lights. Co2 when the lights are off doesn't do much for the plants. Unless you have a controller for your Co2 system, which would allow you to set a Ph level and it will turn on and off when it is needed.

    Question bout lighting

I was in your spot a few months ago with my 20 gallon high I converted to my first nano reef. I bought one Finnex Ray 2 at first with my old T5s HO set up that I had together. A few weeks ago I bought another Ray 2 and ditched the T5s; so I have 2 of the Finnex Rays on there and it looks...

    20 Gallon Build

Thanks :) Here is a pic of the tank. You can see I couldn't wait for corals the other day and picked up a few. The one at the bottom right if you can see it is not doing to great. It is a acan, and not sure what is wrong with it. It seems to be bleaching, I moved it in a more shaded area to...

    20 Gallon Build

So today I got my first fish! Water paras have been steady for a few weeks now and things have been going well in the tank. We will hope it stays this way. He/She is a Ocellaris Clownfish. It seems to be very happy in the tank finding all the ways around the rocks.
