I think blerts got it mixed up. I used special blend on my 55g and I honest don't know if it helped at all. I still dosed ammonia, which I think is what you should stick to. Oh and yes, that stuff smells like crap.

Holding eggs! I think you should wait a little bit as it usually takes a while... And you could "strip" her if you want. That's when you take the eggs out of her mouth and hatch them yourself. There are some vids on youtube about how to do that.
