not necessarily...most places you can buy filter media bags that will hold the 'stuff' Eheim makes filter pads that are designed for said product, but if you want to add additional things such as peat, or additional chemical filtration, you would probably end up using the media bags.

Ordered Eheim Pro 3 2071 canister filter this morning. Foster and Smith had a heck of a deal on it. Know that this line has had it's share of issues, hopefully I'll avoid it with mine. I'll keep you up to date as the process moves on. Anyone figure out a sure fire fix for the siphon issue...

would agree with the above about the corys...i only get away with it because i've got plenty of space for all to get along.

I use the API master test kit. I test about once a week, helps me keep things in line and also keeps it affordable.
