    Fluval CO2 20 System - Replacement Canisters(Non-Fluval)

That is correct, I am using 16g threaded even though the FLUVAL cartridges are 20g. The threads are the same, no problems there. I'm still using them! Cheers

    Low light?

Do you know what kind of bulbs your tank comes with? (length, wattage, T8/ T5-HO etc.)

    My 15gal Gravel Swap/Rescape

Hello Again, as you can see my plants have exploded! I feel as tho I am beginning to be overrun. I just want to ensure my fish have adequate room to swim. That being said there has been absolutely no nipping between my serpae's and fire red gourami since the plants have grown:). I was thinking...

    My 15gal Gravel Swap/Rescape

Thank you! The exact fixture I use is a Hagen Glo T5 High Output Double Floursecent fixture, it is widely available online and at many pet stores (Petland etc.). You can see the model/specs here. I use one Power-Glo and one Life-Glo bulb in th fixture(both T5HO). I really enjoy this fixture...

    My 15gal Gravel Swap/Rescape

Thanks! I am stocking: -Parrots Feather(in the back) -Anubias (in DW) -Java Moss (on DW) -Ranalisma Rostrata (attempting to carpet front) -The floating(ish) plant in the top right might be Hornwart(?), it has no roots so I just let it do its thing. -There is one plant in the back I do not...

    My 15gal Gravel Swap/Rescape

Hello All, Three weeks ago I did a gravel swap in my 15gal freshwater tank and while I was at it I thought I would do a little rescaping. The plants seem to be taking very well. My fish (6 harlequin rasboras, 4 serape tetras, 1 fire dwarf gourami, 2 Ottos, clown pleco and 3 shrimp) are extremely...

    Shrimp

Hello, I just got home and noticed what looks to be a shrimps equivalent to a snake skin. I have one orange bee shrimp and 2 amano shrimp. Water conditions are ideal(just tested). Is this normal? Or is there a dead shrimp hiding in my tank :(? Thanks

Power Compact Bulb 65 in a 55 fixture

Thanks, I would probably not go higher. It calls for 2x55W so I probably wouldn't stray from that IMO. The calculation to see how much current the bulbs themselves will draw is a pretty gross complex power calculation ;).

Power Compact Bulb 65 in a 55 fixture

If the 175 is 175Watt then you should have no problem IMO. Because the total power drawn will only be 120Watts. With increased power comes increased current so proceed with caution in the future but in this case it would not be a whole lot. If it was only rated at 110W then I would not...

    Fluval CO2 20 System - Replacement Canisters(Non-Fluval)

Many people on the internet were questioning weather or not the Fluval CO2 20 System has propriatery threading on their 18g cartridges. Seeing as a package of 3 Fluval brand cartridges costs around $25 I thought I would try a "non-fluval" threaded CO2 canister. I went to my local bike shop and...

    Amano Shrimp Teleporation?

Hello, About a week ago I added 2 Amano shrimp to my 15gal tank. They used to be out all the time but the past few days I have not seen them. I have drift wood in the tank and they seemed to like to hide inside of it but they did emerge to feed. In the tank I have Serpae tetras, harlequin...

    Fluval Floura Stock

Thanks, celestial pearl danios and shrimp would be perfect! So 1-2 otto's would probably not be the best in that tank?

    Fluval Floura Stock

I was thinking of getting a 7.9 gal Fluval Floura for my desk. Besides live plants I was wondering what else I could put in there? I was hoping a few shrimp, and possibly some neon tetras (?). I would also love something to eat algae if possible ( Oto or two??). Any ideas? Thanks!

    Clown pleco!

I have a clown pleco too and he just hangs on his "spot" on the DW and rarely ventures out. He is also not much into algae and wont eat cucumbers, I thought he was weird but good to know he has a brother out there! My LFS is getting some otos in this week, I will pick a few up to help with my...

    My little milo

I'm so sorry. If that happened to my little guy (dog) I would be distraught as well. Veterinarians are amazing though, they will have milo all fixed up in no time!

Algae Help - Brownish Red on Plants

Mine generally rubs off, must be algae. If yours does not, sometimes brown spots on plants are due to an iron deficiency. You could try adding some iron, I use Seachem Flourish Iron.

Major landscape overhaul : keep the fish in, or put 'em in a bucket?

IMO they would be fine for an hour, however the bucket(s) water temperature will drop off pretty quick so you will need to reacclimatize them to the tank when you are done rescaping because your tank water will be a lot warmer than the bucket water and the shock will be really stressful on the...

    Fluval Stratum

I have not used it personally but I did hear that you should not vacuum it because the little balls break and get sucked up. Can anyone speak to this?

Fish swimming up and down glass?

My harlequin rasboras do the exact same thing. I am thinking about adding a few more to my school. They are energetic little guys and that might be in their nature. However, once your tank is completely cycled I would definitely add more harlequin rasboras. They like to be in groups of at least...

    Using prime

Personally I like to add Prime to the new water before it goes in. I just feel better knowing the neutralization of chlorine/chloramine has already taken place before the water is mixed in the tank with my fish and nice bacteria.

    Using prime

I also use Prime. I have had no issues with it at all! I always add it to water that is about to go in the tank when I do my pwc. I rarely have to buy new bottles as well because it is quite concentrated...which I like ;)
