    It's quieted ALOT. I don't hear it at all now. Maybe it needed to break in or something. I love it and the ease of cleaning is good too. I just like the whole setup of it.

    Changeing substrate?

    If your gonna change substrate if go with Eco complete. It's easy to do. Personally I don't like gravel for planted tanks but that's just my opinion.

    Don't be sorry, the price was right and nothing wrong with some added filtration. I use the canister for all the chemi pure elite, bio max and purigen. The HOB's I use for the sponges, poly fill, carbon if needed, polishing pads, etc etc. it's just easier to get to.

    Changed a few things around. Added 20 pounds of African cichlid mix sand, removed 9 rocks and re homed 25 fish. Also added a Fluval 406 in a addition to my 2 AC110's. opened up the back completely and added a new power head aiming at the driftwood. Water has never been clearer. I...

    Is my heater Faulty

    What kind is it? Doesn't sound to be faulty IMHO my heaters are set to 76 and tank temp is about 78.4-78.8 They will fluctuate a little from time to time. If it turned on when you raised it I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on your thermometer readings.
