    Help ro/di unit over 150psi

That high of pressure seems out of range for a typical plumbing system. I would see about changing the pressure guage as it maybe malfunctioning.

    Skimmer help

I just purchased an Aquamaxx cone in sump for my 220g build. Still do not have it up and running yet, but the reviews seemed good and I like the size/constrution/capacity for the price. There may be others that were better but I was not able to spend that kind of money. Everthing I learned in my...

210 gallon reef 300 gallon total water volume

I am also in the planning setup phase of a 210. IMO I would "T" the two drain lines together before going to filtration. Then you can "T" a line off to go to the refuge. By doing it this way you can control the flow going through the refuge with a ball or gate valve but you will not effect the...

    need help building sump

What is the distance the water will have to be pumped back to the DT from the sump? if the sump will just be sitting underneath the DT then I would recommend going with an internal pump so you dont have to worry about drilling your sump. the majority of internal return pumps for that size system...

Do you need to have a Skimmer inside of your Sump?

The skimmer doesnt have to be physically inside the sump. There are plenty options available that work on systems of that size that don't need to sit inside the sump. I would still recommend having some type of skimmer.

    Drain plumbing question

Honestly I don't think a corner would make much of a difference, aslong as the end of your drain pipe is submerged and there would be no splashing. Either way there is the possibilty of the sound of water running down the pipes. So which is better hearing the water hitting the 90 degree bend in...

    Pump/powerhead for ATO

Try this site http://www.reefcentral.com/. Using their calaculator you can determine the amount of gph loss for the distance/height/bends/valves in your plumbing.

    water filtration

The type of unit depends different factors. What kind of water supply will you be using, city or well? if city what type of sterilation do they use, chlorine or cholramines? In general the worse the condition the water is in when you start the more stages you will want for the best possible...

    Thinking about converting

IMO a properly sized protein skimmer with live rock would be all you need for a tank that size.

    Thinking about converting

I am currently running a 10g sw. Its a transition from my 55g while i build my 220 g setup. I am running it with a couple of pieces of cured live rock with crushed coral as substrate. I am using my old protein skimmer from my 55, basically for additional water movement, plus an additional...

    1400 gph enough for 220g

I am in the planning/building process of a 220g fowlr setup (maybe some corals later). My question is: the tank I am planning on purchasing comes with two overflows. Each 1" bulkhead is rated at 700 gph for a total of 1400 gph, is this a high enough turnover rate for the tank? I don't know...

    Sump size for 210 gal

The filtration will be directly under the DT in the basement, so the water will not have far to travel (other than vertically). I have been looking at pumps and will probably get one with the max head well into the 20+ foot range.

    Sump size for 210 gal

Size is not really going to be an issue since I plan on having all my filtration piped into the basement with the DT on the first floor. With a 55g for a refugium and then another 55g for the sump, thats 110g for filtration on 210g tank. At what point would i be getting diminishing returns on...

    Sump size for 210 gal

I am still in the planning process (and money saving process) for my 210 gal FOWLR build. I am planning on using the 55 gal tank I currently have as the refugium. So my question is how big should the seperate sump tank be, would another 55 gal tank be sufficent? Petco is having a $1/gal sale...

would a 4ft tank be safe upstairs in my house

It would depend on the age of the house. However, if it is fairly new and the joists are the right size and spanning for the space then you should be fine. just make sure it runs perpendicular to the joists and up against a load bearing wall if possible. I had a home inspecter and an architect...

Looking for help in desiging Filtration Room.

I am currently in the very early process of researching and designing my new setup. I am planning on doing a FOWLR with possiblity of adding corals later. The tank will be a 220g on the main floor of my house. My plan is to run the plumbing from the drilled overflows into the basement for the...

    Tank size?

I started with a 55g tank and it was a good place to start. I did a canister filter and HOB protein skimmer and was done. Pretty simple and easy setup, however a friend of my started a 75g at the same time and I wish I would have done the same simply for the aquascaping aspect, However he...

    Six-line Wrasse Opinions

I had a six-line Wrasse that became super aggressive and ended up killing my flame angel. My first flame angel was the last fish to my 55g tank, everything was fine until my angel jumped out of the tank, had him for about a year. When i got a new flame angel, my six-line wrasse basically became...

    Location of drain lines???

That makes sense and less room being taken up by the overflow box would be nice, but having everything underneath the tank would be a plus. Lots of food for thought. Thanks.
