The best way to keep algae down IMO is to keep it packed with inverts. I stop at the LFS weekly and grab a handfull of snails or hermits. I keep 2-3 snails/hermits per gallon and I have never had much of a problem. One quick scrape off the front glass once a week and thats it. I also did keep a...
Interesting, how long has the clown been bothering him. My two clowns did this to my bubble coral for about two weeks and then got sick of it. Then they moved to my mushrooms and my pagoda and drove them crazy for a awhile. Finally they've settled in my xenia, not my anenome,so go figure. Maybe...
Not sure if anyone mentioned it but you really want the bubble trap as the last thing before the water goes back the the main tank. My sump is similar in design and I had to fill the final chamber with some filter floss to prevent bubbles going into the main tank. When the water tips over that...
O.K. rev, I downloaded it and played it. Thats hilarious, all set to music and everything, your cleaner seemed to be swaying to the music.
Beautiful leather too, I have one just like him but smaller, one of my favs.
I have an onion plant in my cichlid tank with actinic lighting and I would not say that it is a problem at all. It is thriving and happy. I am pruning it regularly, and it looks beautiful.
Heres mine, this colony has doubled every month, and I have frags of it all over the tank now. It finally has started growing up the glass, something I've envied on other tanks for years. This is slowly becoming one of my favorites.
The flow thing is a consideration, but it really does depend on the fuge size. 500 gph going through a 20 gallon fuge is alot different than 500 gph through a 5 gallon fuge. With a 10 gallon only electrikat is probably right, let half go to the fuge and the other half go straight to the sump and...
Sounds like you got a steal, can't wait to see some pics. Definitely get those scissors out, once that xenia takes hold it will grow everywhere, mines creeping up the glass and looks like it wants to grow right out of the tank.
