They are not hoods. The above is exactly what they are. They are strips. Not hoods. I used them on my 29g long which measures 36" across and it covered thr entire area with light. They are about 12" each.

    fluval chi for a betta?

Anyone seen these? They have a 5g and a 6.5g I believe and it has a cascading water feature on top. Would this be ok to keep a betta in? What would be some options for this small setup? I really like the idea of having something in my office like this.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It's been a long road with trial and error to get it to look like that and especially difficult with no LFS to tap for ideas/knowledge. I got almost all of my plants from aquabid.com and fish stick from aquarium fish.net. The rainbows are boesemani rainbows...

    38 gallon lights...

I agree with this but IMO it depends on what size fixture you are using with them...personally a 36" fixture would be ideal output and coverage for a 38g but not a 24" or smaller.

    New setup

I'm blaming you for the hours spent scraping and repairing on my Saturday morning. But it's def what I've been missing. The plants look soooo much better!!! Thanks paytertot

    New setup

I actually just put a school of fire ring danios in. They sort of stay in the middle-top but they are so tiny right now I doubt you can see them that we'll in pics...now paytertot has me thinking about how I could change the background. I agree a darker color would be better....Hhhmmm

    New setup

I would have to agree but a tad late to change. I was painting outside on an overcast day and it seemed a much darker blue with black specks and then when the lights ate on, voila, it's sky blue. Lol

    val question

When I first introduced vals into my tank some of the mature leaves "melted" off but within a few days the started to send out runners and spruce up!..I would say it's normal activity IMO

    New setup

This is my new community planted 38g. Pressurized co2. Hight light. Fluval 306. Plants just starting to take root and filling in. There's something missing I feel though. Anyone's constructive feedback would be appreciated!!

Thinking of going planted need advice!

Well, funny you ask because I basically asked the same about bulbs earlier, no one has responded yet though. 1...the combination I currently used and have used in the past was one daylight(6500k) and a floramax bulb..I did notice on the floramax bulb though that the light range went to crap...

    Trusted online fish dealer?

Azaquatic garden gets a negative 3 star for absolutely no customer service and expensive shipping. I called over 20 times about DOAs, left messages and no one ever got back to me. Finally got ahold of them a week later and they were completely rude. I've ordered from live aquaria w good...

For Sale: Fluval 205 and Other Items

Used fluval 205 for sale. Used for 6 months before I upgraded everything. Fully functioning but would recommend getting a new hose that you can cut to your tanks specs. Hose that's included is fine but is missing one side of the rubber connector that you can get at lowes for like a $1. Will be...

    Fluval CO2 system

It is and isn't. If you are looking for an entry level then yes but you always want more and it doesn't cut it compared to bigger systems. I have my old one I used for 2 months if you want you can have it for $30 including shipping just to see if you'll like the addition of co2. but I went...

    Algae Help

Should be fine. I'd say blame it on not enough co2 and too much light for now. Just need to figure out the right balance or it will persist.
